The twisting and twirling it around does actually help, cheers. As does the ibuprofen, or I could just be as high as a kite.

Was hoping to get back into the daily walking regime by tomorrow, but no chance. New trainer shopping at the weekend and will hope for next Monday.

Though the pessimist in me says this will be Ol' Lulu come July.

I actually re-downloaded that app on Friday to start using it on Monday, just to keep track of it all weekly.

Oh well, one or two more weeks of it not doing anything but mining my data won't kill it.

I'm loving it. I pretty much do the exact same route every time but just having a time / speed goal to measure against makes it interesting.

I must look like a right knob power-walking trying to beat my last time though.

Give it a few days and if it's not coming good, go for a scan. It might be just a pinched nerve or pulled muscle/ligament sort of thing, or it might need some proper treatment. If it's all gone pear-shaped, I can make a recommendation on who can help you recover if needed.

Have you had any medical consultations about the rather odd set up of you toes?
The gaps are very odd as is the strange tilt to starboard of your second toe.
Medically speaking these are serious areas for concern.
I'd recommend intense MRIs as soon as possible, followed by PET scans and perhaps, subject to availability, intrusive surgery aiming at realignment.
Have you had any back pains of late?
    Any twinges?
A full MOT is recommended here mate.

By the way, you calf seems strangely swollen, and the lawn needs a bit of a clear up.
    Good luck.

You haven't got plantar fasciitis or if you have you are treating it wrongly by lying on your fat arse.. It strikes when you sleep or rest your self for a significant period and on getting back on your hind legs you experience pain along the sole of your foot as you take your first steps. Once you get going the pain recedes and you feel no further discomfort until you rest or stop for a longish time and then when you launch yourself the pain recurs but again after a few steps or so it recedes.
The cure is to get a more comfortable shoe which cushions your foot and refrain from running or prancing about like a prat or a ballet dancer but it is important to keep walking.

Sitting on your arse is no fucking good and actually makes things worse - the tissue in your sole linking your heel to your toes tightens up when resting and the pain you experience is the foot stretching it back to its proper shape..

Get off your arse and walk but on the equivalent of a nicely rubber soled sensible shoe with a decent heel.

My symptoms evaporated in about six weeks.

not only is your genus palinurus chylaceously hypersensitive, but your kidneys are laterally ankylosed, and judging from your symptoms you could also have a bardic fracture of the stepsister, a possible clitoral prolapse and your krasner tissue may have suffered a reconstructed oxydosis.

    chances of survival are catabatic.

Talk of most people healing within 7-10 months.

    Months!

10 months on the sofa.... Fookin' 'ell, I'll be Dillinger-esque in size by then.
The pain will reduce slowly but gradually during that time. You will still be able to walk/run etc, just adjust to the pain factor.
Adding a heel insert might help a bit. The extra millimetre or two will make a small positive difference (slightly less pain).

    Luigi,

Have you tried a soapy massage applied to the affected area? I've heard from reliable sources that one will always help what ails you, as long as you remember to take the antibiotics after.

I had an attack of sciatica (a pinched nerve in my hip/pain down the outside of my thigh) last year and 7 - 10 months of healing sounds about right. Stretching and ibuprofen helped me get through workdays. Stretching and walking eventually seems to have cured it.

The first month was just agony. It was about 6 weeks before I could stand for more than a couple of minutes without pain or walk for more than 15 minutes. I just pushed through and was walking for an hour at a time after 3 months. The worst part of it was the pain I felt when standing still for any length of time.

I always feel better once she's gone.

i'd wager it's plantar fasciitis....i've had it a couple of times...it sucks but it eventually goes away...and IME it doesn't take 7 months.

    my advice:
    1. cut out the 'fast walking' for a week or so....take an anti-inflammatory if it really acts up during your regular day to day activities.
    2. roll a golf ball under your foot a couple of times a day...focus on rolling the ball directly over painful area.
    3. put ice directly on the painful area at least 3 times per day
    4. use a couple of pillows to raise your foot when your sleeping or being a lazy bastard on the sofa.
    5. stop wearing these

and get a proper pair of running shoes for your 'fast walking' and then go to an orthopedic shop and get something similar to this:

if it's not gone in 3 months, go to a doctor to get a cortisone shot.
