Are you intending to drink that?

Did my right ankle in when I was in my early teens. Light exercise helped.

I think the secret is to give the ligament plenty of time to reattach properly then do the correct strengthening exercises before going all out.

The main thing is to avoid repeating the injury in the early phase as you can easily break the reattached fibres. It is easy to repeat the injury since the ligament is so weak during early rehabilitation stage.

Did the same thing a couple of years ago. Stepped off a kerb and the road below was lower than I anticipated... Ouch.
Not much to add really to some good advice on this thread. You're better off breaking an ankle than serious sprains / ligament damage; at least you'd get a cast!

    Get well soon.

Edit to add: Weight training after full healing of the ankle has got mine back to full strength, without vulnerability to further injuries. Touch wood.

I fucked mine when I was 23. Years later, whenever I engaged in sports or just larked around, I would get a sharp reminder and have to pull up and take things gently for a while. A Bangkok ankle incident sustained because the fucking bastards can't fucking lay a fucking pavement level for more than two fucking metres was a bitter blow indeed. Same ankle, too, and it took a year before I was guaranteed pain-free peregrinations.

Life is really just a fracture that never truly mends.
