    Yoga

A former colleague I meet up with occasionally is a licensed Yoga teacher.

He's mentioned to me a couple of time to try / do Yoga.

I said I was open to it, but I noted:

    1. I'm a begginer with no knowledge / experience whatsoever.

(He's says this is OK b/c hey, he's a teacher.)

    2. I don't consider myself to be limber. I do stretch in between sets at the gym, but I don't consider myself to be limber.

    Has anyone done Yoga?

If so, what type, and for how long?

    Do you enjoy it?

Does it help your body and/or mind?

I believe at any age you could improve your quality of life with yoga. Just start slowly. If there is a "fountain of youth" it is yoga. I have been doing yoga for over 40 years. No suppliments or drugs, just yoga. When I read the thread about all the suppliments men are taking, I have to laugh.

    Thank you, tunk.

I assume I should stretch and limber up a couple of weeks before on a stretch program.

I'm tempted to try alignment yoga. My wife is a member of a local yoga club and got invitation for some free session. From what I saw the poses are the same as the ones from the cool down stretches at my sport club. As flexibility is one of my main weakness, it can only be profitable to get advise from a real specialist.

I have a friend who owns a yoga studio he says no that you should just come in there right away even if you have never worked out. He says yoga first gym second.

My wife does hot yoga... she swears by it.. seems to keep her in good shape

I tired it a few times with her - couldn't keep up.. it's not as easy as it looks to hold certain positions... I thought I was pretty strong (bench press 140 kg) very humbling indeed.

Go for it... bodyweight exercises/calisthenics are the great for functional strength and mobility.

Living in Thailand, everyday is hot yoga. When I was a young man of 18 or 19 I picked up a book by Richard Hittleman. Yoga for Beginners. It felt so good I have never stopped. Start slowly, muscles take time to stretch. There are no miracles in life. Don't expect to see improvment tomorrow. Give it a couple weeks at least. I do two forms of yoga. Hatha yoga and Yin Yoga. For a beginner I would recommend hatha.

Certainly can put the spring back in one's step.
Mind and body at one, otherwise it ain't yoga
and if there's pain in stretching, it ain't yoga.

Easily corruptible as is used to stay young and beautiful,

I used to enjoy Salute to the Sun.

^ I know what you mean, KW... "Hot Yoga"... 2 very erotic words, must be a clever subliminal marketing creation - by some clever sod.

    Hot Yoga...

(Shit, I used my (,) key too much in BF4 as I assigned it to change weapons - hence the weird and often incorrect use of hyphens...
did I type that? I was just thinking it to myself.
just read the above, don't read this.

Thank fook I was mainly a Science teacher..

Yoga seems to work for this guy, 120 years old and fit as a fiddle.
