What the hell is it with this fear of gluten these days?
It's not a fear of gluten per se. It's the body's reaction to gluten by people with Coeliac disease or who are sensitive to it. It can make people quite sick as well as give them diarrhoea. My mother has it. It makes eating out quite difficult. My mother loves bread but doesn't risk eating it due to the problems it gives her. She sometimes eats bread made with rice flour but it's not as nice as bread made with wheat flour.
Skipping carbs and sugars this month, to see how my body will react.
Have lost 3kgs in 5 days. Another 10 to go.
Still have some back-up whole wheat bread in the freezer if need be. Not missing rice, noodles or bread much.
What about them, smart guy?Originally Posted by Lukey1979
Not sure what you're implying, and we are not on the best of terms, so I'll limit my answer to yes.Wow. That's a lot of weight in a short time. I wish I could do that. Is that only from skipping "carbs and sugars"?
Thing is I weighed myself in the evening of the 31st, after a day with three full meals, and plenty of water. Then re-weighed myself yesterday morning, on an empty stomach.Thats'a s lot of KGs in 5 days.
Are you feeling strange? Jittery? Weird?
However the weight is coming off, despite only doing a fair amount of walking and stair climbing as exercise. If I was swimming/jogging/rowing and do some weights I'm sure the 10 would be gone in a month.
Sleeping better, less jittery, calmer.

I merely cut out bread, noodles, rice, and refined sugars.
Eating eggs, meats, homemade soups, salads, fruit and veg, no booze, reasonable amount of water.
Anyway, back on topic - bread. Miss it, and will have a slice or two on cheat day (Sundays).
I did... and toasted it and server with M & S strong Seville Orange marmalade and one slice with M & S Sicilian Lemon Curd.
It was so good that I almost cancelled work and stayed at home to finish the loaf.... but at least I'll have a further 3 days of delicious toast.
For those looking for more whole wheat flour in their bread in Thailand, "Cubic Multi Grain Plus Wheat Loaf" contains 29% whole wheat flour and 17% wheat flour (plus 5% mixed whole grains).
