The blog of a guy I know here in Thailand. He struggled with drinking for years. He now doesn't touch a drop despite going through hell the last few years.

For sure, this would massively increase Thailand's tourism dollars if it was made legal.
    Good example: Amsterdam.

No seriously I used to drink a fair bit, I now smoke a one skinner a night, and don't even think about drink.

Give it a try, saves you going through the sleep deprivation as well, as Chas said the heat seems to make farang drink more.

I quite like the idea of the op.

I'm what you would call a social binge drinker or kee mao as the Missus would affectionately call me, before she stopped speaking to me

Its rare i drink at home and i never do alone. My problem is i dont know when to call it a day, which is bad in a city that doesnt sleep. My record is going out on a Friday and coming home on Monday afternoon, stinkin and a mingin. I've never ever shit my pants though.

I'm gonna try and stop for a month after my weekend jolly, i heard it brings your tolerance levels right back down too

Thanks, will read it. I did not have to live under a bridge in a cardboard box to know that I had a problem that needing dealing to. I've dealt with it, and I do hope that others will be encouraged to look at alternatives to the AA solution to solve their problem drinking. That's why I posted it. I do not need to enter into my web url that I'm a "Blogger & Alcoholic". It's characteristic of some personalities to enter into the victim mentality, hence the need for a label. It's great that 'Mobi' has released himself from the demon drink, but, to be honest, there might be additional issues he may need to resolve.

Yes I've been a toker in the past, hence my Amsterdam reference in the post above. But really, how tolerant are his majesties servants to this practice?

Alcohol has never done much for me. When I was younger I drank a bit, soI know what it's about. But these days I sometimes have only one beer a year. Then every few years I might have a few on New Year's and have a bit of a wind-ding. My father and both grandfathers were the same.
A beer a year and a wing ding at new years......

Yes, that totally makes you qualified to post on this thread.

Pickled-brain Wombat Willy ....you are a good example of the negative effects of alcohol.

    You really are a dickhead.

Which is excusable in a young person, but when as old as you are, devolves into atrocious personality defects like the trolling you display for us.

Well they control the trade from top to bottom, so very.... unless you are a farang and its near the end of the month, at which point they will get very tough to boost the finances.

Just before I turned 17 I ended up in a night club on new years eve, drinking whisky. I woke up around 6am and found myself in the nightclub toilets sat on the bog with my pants around my ankles. I had managed to shit in the bog and throw up in my pants, then apparently fell asleep. The staff had locked up and gone home and I had to wait for the cleaners to come in and let me out.
Didn't go near whisky for decades after that.

I always feel sorry for anyone who never drinks. When they get up in the morning, that's the best they are going to feel all day.

I personally think being an alcoholic is admitting you have fallen into be judged. Drink in moderation.

I am down to drinking a few drinks once a week. Typically on Friday or Saturday. Always "Neat" never mixed. Godamn mixers will kill you.

True, sugar has a similar effect on the liver as does alcohol. Not good.

Reported for unnecessary insults not pertaining to the thread or discussion. I'm afraid that's your second infraction for the week. If you offend a third time don't cry if you end up in jail. Just a friendly warning, like.

You might find Moderation Management works with other drug addictions too. I've found an app to help with the booze moderation. AlcoDroid works out your blood alcohol ratio and will be very useful for those who want to go down this track.
