    Health Insurance

    Hi all

As some of you are aware, I will be moving out to LOS in a couple of weeks.

I was wondering about wether or not to get health insurance.

I have been to the local vet here in the UK, who has pronounced me still in the land of the living and fit to travel, so no worries there and as I am 'only' 42 I was thinking is it really worth shelling out on it with money I can really ill afford , or should I just put my faith in the local MOT centre as and when is required.

I understand the local butchers are reasonably cheap at sawing limbs and the like off.

Just wanted to get you guys thoughts and experiences

    Thanks in advance

If you are moving to Thailand (permanently ?) then medical insurance is a must – if you cannot afford it then suggest you do not come !
Talk to a broker but personally I use Peter over at AA Insurance Brokers for all my insurances as they are probably the best around and have the Allianz medical plans which are great - try peter@aainsure.net

    What level of insurance?

there are several levels of medical insurance available here and the Thai health care system is stratified, too.
If you're coming from the US, then 95% of procedures cost less here than your deductible there – depending upon where you have them performed.
Do a search in Amazon for 'medical insurance in thailand'. There's a good guide there that explains the entire scene.

if you have a healthy bank account you could take the risk

if you need an op it will cost, say, 400,000 baht all in

in the States it could be 10 times

but medical insurance is not too expensive and gives you peace of mind

at 42 and your family, maybe a reasonable policy would be 6000 a month?
