    No Idea, Sukhumvit 22

    Hi Guys,

Anybody got some insights on this new place on Suk 22 where Larry's Dive used to be? It really looks swish from the outside and I'll make sure to stop by for a few beers very soon.

Heard some rumours that Dave, the ex-owner of Soi 8 Pub, is involved?

    Anybody knows?

Forget the Kiwi and ol' sour puss behind the bar at Soi 8 for a moment. What ever happened to the Canadian guy who used to own Larry's? Was his name 'Ron'? I recall talking to him years ago on the beach at Hua Hin. Seemed like a a pretty decent bloke.

20 mil to do it up so spent some of the profit from soi 8 bar.

The Canadian guy was the manager and still wanders round 22 but very late at night.

    The place should do well.

What's the new angle? Please tell me it is simply some decent food and no more cajun shit - nothing spicey .. with decent wines at a reasonable price (and/or a corkage at 300 or less).

There aren't many like that really.

Appetizers and salads (THB 125-200) ; soups (THB 150-175) ; pasta and risotto (THB 225-300) ; pizzas (THB 225-375) ; fish and meat (all imported Australian) main courses (THB 300-800) ; draft Heineken, Carlsburg (THB 85 half / 170 pint) and Singha, Chang (THB 70 half and THB 110 pint).

Thanks. Looks good. Best of luck to them. Hope they heed the suggestion about lower corkage (under 300). Also - ditch the Thai draft beer. Just have Heineken and Carlsberg (or Tiger). Have a decent house wine (e.g. DRINKABLE), and good food (not spicey). If I want spicey food I'd never go to a farang restaurant (okay maybe Mexican or Indian).
