    Yuk.

Okay so its not her fault right.
My sister proudly announced she had some really nice Thai food comes in a sachet, and some colourful packaging She comes in and gives me a packet to try,its lovely try it.
Well its says Pad Thai on the box i look at it with suspicion and stick it in the cupboard hoping she will forget she brought it for me.
A couple of weeks pass, then a fateful event takes place, she remembers she brought it.
What did you think of that Thai food i brought,oh haven't tried it yet will have it at lunch time for a snack.
Zero hour arrives and i prepare the Pad Thai whilst my sister watches, waiting for a comment.
I have to say at this point,to you not her it looks fecking disgusting, and smells like off durian.Cooking complete, just add water 5 minute heat up in a saucepan i shall now describe this culinary delight.
Um sort of trying to be objective,it resembles soi dog excrement, one with worms, colour dark brown, texture crunchy peanut butter.Taste like 1000 year old jar of peanut butter.
I decide to be blunt with my sister,i would not feed that to a soi dog,its disgusting.
Okay if you've never been to Thailand and had pad thai,i guess you have an excuse but if people think this is what Thai food is like, they are easily pleased and mislead.

well, when one is hard up for some Thai food, they are not in Thai and there are no Thai restaurants around, sometimes one just has to bite the bullet and take what is available. Personally, I'd prefer to wait and just go to a Thai restaurant if I wasn't already in Thai.

To some its a cow pat,to others a form of fuel or even a building brick.
But the sad fact is that is what it looked like,a cow pat moo.

The only Thai food i would eat would be a box with Thai lettering on, imported to UK or wherever you bought it from.

Mae Ploy curry paste is wicked stuff. Things like Lloyd Grossman's Red curry in a jar, i wouldnt even touch with a bargepole.

Why would you think food with Thai lettering on, imported from Thailand, would be any more representative of decent Thai cuisine than "Chicken Tonight" is of western food?

It really is best to make your own curry paste ingredients fairly easy to get in the U.K these days.
The Mae Ploy red/green curry paste is just about acceptable, but there Kaeng Som paste is pretty good.

We always make our own red curry paste and Kaeng som paste, the missus puts som cat? in ours pretty shaw can't get that in the U.K because its hard to get in Bangkok.
I think Som Cat,spelling wrong ,is a dried flower head if someone knows what it is please let me know she gets it sent up from Pattani.
But for some strange reason we never make green curry paste always but it ready made even in Thailand.

Its not hot enough thats why. Even the mexican shelf thats meant to sell extreme mexican spicy food is nothing compared to the real thing.

If its made in UK, i aint touching it
