    Obviously!

Websites have to gear recipes towards people who think that Heinz ketchup is spicy.

That vid makes it look easy. Don't think I could use as much oil as she does though.

What is "sambal olekk" and where can you get it from over here?

Best way is to go to Villa and buy a pack of the Malay or Singaporean Rendang seasoning. It is damn good.

Bingo, you can use top Thai beef, but be sure it simmers at least 2 and a half hours. I do mine in the oven on about 140. Get some roti's and you are good to go.

Sambal Oelek is a chili paste but without all the extra garlic etc. Don't know for sure but there must be a Thai equivalent.

    Next discussion will be Gado-Gado

Not to sure about that. I for one appreciate all the sambals throughout Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. Sure does a lot more for a meal than Prik nam pla, some chopped up birds eye chilies in fish sauce.

The only Rendang I have had in Thailand was at the Huntsman at the Landmark.

Being a 5 Star Hotel the beef was good and all it all it was worth having.

Went there recently and it is no longer on the menu.

It really isn't that difficult, BC.

The cut of beef is relatively irrelevant because this is a slow and long cooking dish.

Main ingredients are the curry powder, coconut milk and lemon grass.

Anything else you can get improves it, cinnamon, cloves, curry leaves.

The pics posted above are very 'hygenic', there should be more oil visible.

It's a 'dry' curry so a lot of the pics on google images are not quite right.
