I vaguely remember them but I thought the bar was called the New Square 1 bar at the time and no I only ever go into the bar for a drink not crumpet mate.

Taffy has had some lookers in there, straight out of the rice paddy but scars em off within a few days.

New square bar was the original bar before Taffy, can't remember whether he kept the name for a while but it was originally owned by a Indian guy, didn't
get many customers until taffy took it over.

From memory it started off as the Square 1 bar, then the New square 1 and then The Hairy Pie owned by Taffy.

My mate Dennis managed the Square 1 for a while.

    Do you know him Peter?

Rooms are run down and over priced. Think they're opening a new guesthouse on Soi 20. I stayed there for one night last month because I was too pissed to drive home and It was the first place I thought of.

    Wouldn't recommend them.

The Sportsman is in Washington Square between sois 22-24.
    Can't miss it.
They charge 180 baht an hour for the tables (About 12 or so in there) , but pool is free everyday between 12-4pm.
Pints of Tiger run at 99 baht all day/night with happy hours thrown in.
Ball in Hand down Nana is better if you want to play the pricks that wear gloves and chalk their hands every shot!.
The Queens plaza is across the road from Wash Sq and Bourban St. Around 30 small bars with ugly/fat chicks, but a few diamonds hidden in the rough selling sub 100 baht beers
Google the plaza's name and a map will spring up.
    Black diamonds? I shit 'em.

Guess we'll go to the Sportsman.I would like shoot some with some guy's or gal's that can shoot. My wife just hasn't been on a table long enough to understand the game. We've been to Hilary 2 down the street from Nana, kind of a rat hole, mostly just sat outside and watch the show.Maybe if we put a table at our place I can try and teach her a little bit. She's got a good eye.She thinks I should let up some, but don't ever do that with anybody.HAHA

They're above the bar and definately not the highlight of Bourbon Street.
Good food, beer and atmosphere, but the rooms are worn out and musty.

    Your memory is correct LT.

It was run by a Thai couple, for an american that was held at the start of the Kuwait war if my memeory is correct.

It its day (late 80's) it was one of the premier darts venues in the city.

    Cheers, TP

In the mid/ late 90's I thought the place was a fair bargain- but Doug sure wasn't shy to put the prices up when it became a bit of an institution. Anyway, had some decent times there.
