This subject has many implications, The way Thai women tend to indulge their kids being one.
My wife was reared in frugal environment, mainly eating food that was grown on their farm cooked and put up for consumption with almost no waste but she indulges our daughters with whatever crap food they want to eat.
Tonight I blew my stack, she cooked a perfectly adequate and nutritious meal, vegetables and seasoned pork on rice. One girl ate the lot but the other ate less than a 1/4 of it.
About 1 hr later I went in while they were doing home work with Mum to see them snacking on peanut butter and cracker biscuits.
My wife explained that they were hungry, of course they were!
One didn't eat her dinner and now she was rewarding that behavior by letting them snack on rubbish.
I don't know how to get through to these woman, as a treat there is nothing wrong with snacks. but its no substitute for nutritious food.
I see kids around here whose diet consists of packet snacks at home and at school.
I recently watched a docu by al jazzera, titled "Fast food fat profits" showing the problems that the USA currently faces with obesity and diabetes.
At my daughters school there is high proportion of fat near obese young girls.
I fear that the same thing is happening in this country.
I;m getting frustrated in trying to get the message across, anyone with an answer ?
