Dr Pepper - with a twist

I discovered this little liquid treat during the hazy days of pub ownership. In fact, I sold so much of it that it grew to be my bestest mate in the whole world, beneficial to both my pocket and my then, sheer disgust of sobriety.

Advertised on the chalk boards outside, would be "Dr. Pepper available here"..

And so in the customers poured..in their dozens..

    "Dr. Pepper please, landlord.."

"Erm, actually, there was something I'd been meaning to tell you about that..it's isn't actually Dr.Pepper per se..but tastes exactly the same.."

" Fucking chancer, you won't see me in here again"

"Fair enough, here's one on the house for your trouble"

"MMMMMMM, that's tasty, tasty, very very tasty...it's very tasty..I'll have 20 more please and I'm just gonna phone a coach load of my mates to come here and try it"

"Very well, sir..tee hee hee" *slaps back of own hand feigning apologies for instigating huge piss up*

So we make it like this..

Step one: Get a beer glass and fill a third of it with a lager of your choice, Heineken works well..

Fill the rest of the glass up with Coke..

    The next step is crucial..

Pop a shot of Amaretto into the coke/lager fusion..

    After that, drink it.
    Then, drink 10 more.
Finally, go out into the street and throw empty beer bottles at random people whilst falling over talking bollocks.

    Try it though..seriously.

It's worth a go mate..gets a bit pricey if you're drinking in a bar though..gotta order a coke, a beer and the shot..so you're looking at 200 baht or so..

Yep I'll back this one, made and drank many. Does taste just like Dr Pepper.

Another one you can try is:

    2 Shots of Vodka
    1 Shot of Cherry Liquor
    Topped up with coke

Tastes just like a Cherry Coke. We called it: "I fucked the Pope."

Unfortunately nothing will happen. We used to make them in my bar back in the u.k. I tried it over here but nobody found it funny. I don't think they know who the pope is.

I will give that a go when i get some amaretto.
    I remember la few gimmicky drinks back home;
after shock, sourz shots, cheeky vimtos and vodka jelly.

the vodka jelly was a bit weak in the pub so i made my own with just enough water to melt the jelly cubes, then added, think it was 3 quarters a botlle of voddy, beautiful

Jikkos in Pai sell the same thing - tall glass, half singha, half coke and a shot of Amaretto. Excellent.

We call them Dissarano Dr Peppers, Drank thousands of the things over the years. It's one of those drinks that you order 1 and everyone wants one. Same with Cheeky Vimtos, suggest a pint of this to somebody and they run around insisting everyone tries it and before you know it the orders are flying in. I'm a big fan of spicy Bloody Marys, but I'm glad for the meantime that Tops filled with water in the floods and is still closed so can't get tomato juice.

Food too: Say the chef has just made up a nice fresh pot of chilli con carne around 11pm, I'll scoop a few ladles into a small bowl and go out and eat it in front of all the pissed lot. Suddenly everyone wants some.

Thing is, I hate vodka, hate tomato juice, hate vodka and tomato juice, but as soon as the Worcestor Sauce goes in there - love it.

Tall glass, Double vodka (or more).
    Ice
    Squeeze lime
pinch of salt and lots of ground black pepper
    Tomato juice (Melee variety)
    10 shoogles Lea n Perrins
10 shoogles Tobasco (for me, anyway. Horse radish is a nice equivelant)
    Stir.
Add stick of carrot or spring onion because the celery down here is pathetic and thin.
    Drink.
    Repeat til sleeping.
