I used to go to a little family owned restaurant, just up soi, mmm, the one before soi 71, so that'd be 69? It's just a little cut through really, so might not have a number. Seemed to be a jap owner/chef with a Thai wife doing the tables. Often had a few Jap customers, which is a good sign, imo.

Soi 19 about 50 meters from Suk on small soi on the left. Sorry can't remember the name but easy to find.

If price no object the Tsu Japanese Resturant under the JW Marriott Hotel, Suk, Soi 2 is one of the best in Bangkok for sushi and sashimi.

Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.

There's a good one in Soi33/1, a few doors along on the right, before you reach the Bulls Head pub. Sorry I've never known what it's called but have eaten there a lot and never been disappointed. They do a full Japanese menu, not just sushi. It's all good and relatively cheap.

A bit further up there's a French butcher, a Japanese custard tart shop (?) and also a big Korean supermarket that looks interesting - really full of Asian shoppers at the weekend. There's also a cheap, very un-fancy Chinese restaurant called Dalian which a mate of mine whose wife is from Dalian says is very good. A soi worth wandering in!

Shin Daikoku on soi 19 is pretty damned good (though it's pricey).
