Thread: Chicken or Duck ?

I like eggs.

Especially poached eggs on toast.

I particularly enjoy poached duck eggs on toast.

A larger yolk and so easy to do.

A mate recently bought it to my attention the duck eggs were dodgy cos ducks shit on their own eggs whilst you average chicken doesn't.

Shit on it's own eggs, that is.

Shit, thereby being absorbed into ducks egg, but not into chook egg.

What're your thoughts or preferences on this vitally important matter?

Chicken eggs are the only ones I eat!

Anything else is sick, and probably deserves a custodial sentence along with re-education.

I like duck eggs in salads and with salmon.
But chickens in bacon and egg sangers.

Geese eggs are nice. Larger...richer flavour. Almost gamey. Though not laid as clearly often as your other domestic fowl. Rather exotic.

Bird eggs exit the cloacae -- a common cavity into which the intestinal, genital, and urinary tracts open. That's all three nasties together. It's also the reason birds don't have separate pee and poo. It's all mixed into one wonderful white automotive paint remover -- sorta like pooing in rural Thailand.

As long as you're not eating the shell, I don't think it matters much.

If you are eating the shells, I'd stick with the less poopy ones. Unless your diet is lacking in uric acid.

I sometimes eat those fermented duck eggs, real salty but nice. Missus calls them 'old egg'. Real peasents food, a 10bt meal with rice.

The nests are checked every day and the eggs are washed when collected, that's all. As said by the same logic you could eat chicken poo and get sick...

Salty eggs are great.

Salty duck eggs, i've found, are far nicer than salty chicken eggs.

Somehow the duck egg seems to ingest the salt in a more sensitive way, a far more subtle salination.

I've yet to try 100 year old duck eggs. I do like the chicken ones though.

You don't mix them up with "Century" eggs, where the yolk is a green goo and the egg white has gone black?
