| well he said he liked the seediness of Soi Sri Bumphen for some reason - it's not that seedy really but more just a fucking shit hole. Those two bars I mentioned were always pretty dead whenever I walked past or ventured in. there's a few very weathered hoes around sometimes - the kind of ones that look as if they are HIV positive junkies. I tried a guest house near Kenny's once (Home sweet home or some similarly sounding stupid name) - it was the worst place I've seen in Thailand so far - the fucking pits! |

| A couple of weeks back I went into the Bulls Head for lunch. I have never really liked the atmosphere there but the food is usually infinetly superior to that of the Londoner. Well pehaps not always ... The place was about hal full- it was the back end of lunchtime. I ordered the cottage pie. Not cheap as I recall. As dry as toast. difficult to swallow. Very little potato topping which for some may male for better value but I like the combination/ texture of the meat and taters. Came with aselction of veg which were nicely cooked and crisp. Wont be back again so soon |

| Today had or tried to have lunch at the Robin Hood on Sukhumvit. I recall MTD stating that service was a tad slow here in his review. This had always kept me out as at the prices paid in these farnag bars at least you ight expect decent service. Well i might have found out the reason today for this slow service. On walking in there was no service bugger in the place at all not even behind the bar. I was tempted to serve myself. Eventually some waiter comes out and i order a pint of strongbow. He goes off behind the bar leving me with the menu. A good five minutes or more later a waitress appears and asks if i would like a drink. I state I am under the impression I have already ordered one . She runs off before I can order food. Another good five minutes later the waiter reappears at my side without my drink and asks if I would liek to order some food. I ask him where my drink is. He says i have to wait 20 minutes or more for the Strongbow- problem and again asks me for my food order. I walk out wishing I had never entered. What do they do when busy? Why do i need to pay the extra money? I'll stick to acold beer from a bar beer thanks |

| Though not a british pub Abolut 7 bar on soi 7/1 when it started its happy hour incuded guinness. worked out at 100baht a pint. Had a few good happy hours there. Unfortunately guinness is no longer included. Found out the hard way (or should i say th thai way). Me to waitress "Has happy hour started" - it was late afternoon. Waitress to me "Yes" Me to waitress " OK then I will have a pint of guinness" Waitress brings me a pint. Me to waitress" How come you have only given me 1 pint" Waitress to me " Oh Guinness isn't one of the happy hour beers" Now that is information i could have used before ordering. I dont think i have been back since. food isn't bad (french owned) |

| Well I managed about 7 pints of Guinness last night, and at 120B a pop (they did try to overcharge me though) I can't complain. And as I was standing near the till, I could collar one of the staff before they went into hiding. |

| Bobbys Arms - Erawan Centre My only experiences with Bobby's Arms have been 1) Seeing the long queues for the fish and chips at the Ploenchit Fair 2) Reading reviews of the Patpong location here and on other forums. Hence i have never visited. 3) Once trying the short lived Sukhumvit 23 location. Went in for some food and was informed that they had not yet gotten around to hiring a cook. so crossed the place off my list. Wel ltoday I was down around chidlom at lunchtime and feeling peckish decided to give the newish Erawan Centre location i try. It could wel go the way of the soi 23 location if y experience is anything to go by. Recently i visited the robin hood on sukhumvit and could find no serving staff behind or in front of the bar. Well at Bobby'sa rms it was no problem. Ther were only the two servers in the place. Zero customers and at 12.30 on a business day. Not a good sign. It didn't help that most of the other food outlets in the basemnent of the Centre appeared to be close to full. Bobbys Arms- Erawan is quite small. A small bar olus 8 tables inside with a pool table in the middle of the room which would if they had a lot of customers would be a [roblem as it would interfere with 4 of the tables. There are also a nuber of tables outside. The bar looks a lot like a pub inside a 5 star hotel - cetainly no spit and sawdust to be found unluke my impressions of the Patpong operation. Everything appeared new. Music (dire as it was) was provided by a Bang & Olufsen 5 (maybes more )CD changer behind the bar and there is also small tv on the wall. No warm publike atmosphere. They have John Smiths and Singha on tap. I can not remember the prices as due to last nights excess i was on the sprites. I was there for the food. They have a small menu mabe a dozen items. nothing special in my view. I had the fish and chips ( memories of the Ploenchit Fair and with no queue) at 185 baht. I thought the portion to be small when it came but upon completion it was adequate for lunch. Just the fish a few chips tartare sauce and a wedge of lime. Fish was chunky and as good a replica of english fish shop fish as i have had in a while. Nice and white with a light crispy batter coating. It was a bit watery though. The chips were unexceptional but acceptable. Service was fiine, although i had to ask for salt. They brought everything else over without being asked but left out the salt. Perhaps looking after my health as i tend to overuse it. i also think that they were happy to practice their technique on an actual customer.Nobody else entered while i was there. Certainly wouldnt become my local. meal was fine byt farang food is expensive. Actually I still prefer the f&C at Busstop. Perhaps i went on a bad day but my viis thas done nothing to make me want to visit the Patpong head office and I wont be standing a 100 deep to order the f&c at this years Ploenchit Fair |

| Elite Member | Back in the late 80's and early 90's Bobby's Arms was a wonderful spot: good food, great live music, funky location. I continued to go back for a long time after it seemed to fade into a shadow of it's former self. But, as Troubled says, no need to bother any more. |

| Nice review Mr T. I was in the Robin Hood earlier. There is only one girl who seems to work there. A smiley young thing with short hair. I did ask her why no one else was working and she just gave me a diplomatic smile. Anyhow, I managed to keep myself down to only 5 guinnesses tonight as I'm off to Hua Hin in the morning.

| Thanks. My pleasure Enjoy Hua Hin but I suggest that you avoid the food in Crawfords Irish Bar. I was in there election weekend and i thought it was horrible but nicely presented. Personally i would go for looks gross but tastes great. didnt try the drinks as it was only 10.30 in the morning - a bit early for me but it didnt top 3 guys from being drunk already. I seem to reacll that they were notmuch different to Bangkok prices. This obvious lack of inforamtion and recall prevented me from a review at the time |
