    Isaan Dining Guide

I've been trying, on and off, to put together a guide to dining in Thailand's Northeast -- Isaan.

I want to list restaurants of interest to Farang. Either places that serve good Farang food, or places that serve Thai food but something above and beyond the ordinary local Thai restaurant.

The page as it exists today is here: Isaan Dining Guide

I plan to post this on a few forums, so don't be surprised if you see these same words elsewhere.

Additions, corrections and suggestions are most welcome at the e-mail address on the web page.

Do they have a restaurant there? I have only ridden and driven through, never really taken the time to explore the potential culinary delights.

I'm glad to see this topic has been taken so seriously....

I don't want to do reviews because I probably can't visit them all.

As for photographs, same deal. If they have a web site they probably have photos.

The point of this is to enable farang travelers in Isaan to locate a place to dine; something that's not all that obvious when you get off the beaten track.

    As for Nongbualamphu....

    WTF?

I know a place that does a great honey duck about as western as it gets there except 7/11 of course
If you go into town and drive around the lake you will see two restaurants next to each other the wood looking place is shit but has nice cold chang draught in them long glass ice keg things and the white one next door does the best duck I have ever tasted it makes a good change from Vermin and Insects every now and then

Well, obviously I'm not in a big hurry. Anything, any time would be helpful.

I got the idea to do this when Ms. B and I were touring Isaan monthly by car. We'd get to a place and wonder if there were any dining gems we shouldn't miss. Well, it turns out to be very difficult to learn about such places.

In Sakon Nakhon we discovered the Tongdee Steak House. A lovely little spot, nicely decorated with a large, eclectic menu and lovely food. But, you don't find references to this great little spot anywhere on the Internet (or in Lonely Planet for that matter -- thank God).

I just suspect that there are similar finds all over Isaan and it might be nice to publicize them a bit.

    Isaan Dining Guide

    Buadhai

    Good idea.

I checked out your guide and it seems that there's only 9 out of the 19 Isaan provinces. What happened to the others?

I'm in Ubon and there's plenty of great eating places here - not too many farang ones, thank goodness. Let me know when you're going to list Ubon and I'll do a bit of researching.

Only provinces that actually have a restaurant are listed in the menu. (I thought it would be confusing to list provinces that had no content.)

So, as soon as I post some listings for Ubon it will show up in the main menu. Same goes for other unlisted provinces. (Even Nongbualamphu!)

I'll change the menu menu page now to make that clear....

Speaking of Isaa dining guide, I could do a review about the BBQ stall beside the Caltex station on the road out of Khon Kaen.
