    Jomtien - Thai Restaurant

This restaurant is quite smart actually, it's just off of Jomtien Beach Road down Soi 7, it's quite a big place and all open although some of it has a roof, the menu has Thai food and international dishes, albeit a bit pricey, but you pay for what you get.

Anyway when we got the menu I was trying to make the decision between the beef steak or the chicken in breadcrumbs, I was quite looking forward to some nice farang food, then I noticed the girls had already ordered oh well Thai food again.

The bar at Emily restaurant, nice soft lighting for a romantic evening.

Seating and tables under the stars.

Seating and tables in the area with the roof, still allowed to smoke here.

Due to the soft lighting my camera had difficulty on focusing on the plates of food, anyway this is the Thai chicken with cashew nuts.

Thai soup Tom Yum, there were loads of other dishes as is typical when Thais get the chance to do the ordering, but my camera just couldn't handle the low lighting.

Then it was off down to Soi Whitehouse to get pissed, funny old Soi this in the evenings, most of the bars are Skandi bars and all the outside seating faces out into the road as though you are waiting for some great event to happen in the road itself, obviously being a dead end road with a hotel at the end that great event is never likely to happen.

A fake hill tribe vendor selling some tourist type souveniers, great if you like beads I suppose.

DD, are you hooked on food or something?

Seems like 23 of the last 25 threads you have made are about food

The food may be quite good but they sure need a lesson or two on presentation.

Everything just cut up in big pieces and tossed in a soup bowl won't have the visual appeal for Jontiems discriminating gay crowd.

Any dried chillies in the chook/cashew nut dish? It does make a difference - on my recent hols on the other side of the gulf and about a further 250km south, it went without, so it was nice, but boring. A bit like spagbol without the bol!

Nope, no dried chillies, it's not very often you get the big dried chillies in Thai food, got to admit I do like them, although the first time I had them was on a holiday from Thailand in Indonesia, I had been living in Thailand for about a year and had never had them.

i went to ThailandUnique.com, but most of the good stuff have been 'sold out'. a ban on liquids is why. bugger. anyone know of a local thai importer that sells what what Thailand unique sells, and maybe a bit less cheaper and waiting time on delivery?

really want to give some scorpion wine to some of my mates. [i forgot to pick up some when i was in Saigon last year]

not to mention the insects. saw a shop in London called cany shop. sells imported crap from america plus they had salted crickets, 5 for £3. unless its not got thai writing on, i wouldnt buy it cos i want the asian flavour to it, not salted

Should be able to buy crickets from a pet shop, quick spray with baygon and a fry up you wouldn't even notice the difference

Had the dish on one of the piers in Hua Hin with dried chillies included and the missus always uses them when making this, so I guess its a regional thing? So to me, it was part of the dish and then it wasn't!

That chicken & cashew nuts doesn't look the least bit like chicken n cashew.
Must be some sort of Thai nouvelle cuisine then- very trendy DD.
