    Hummus or Houmous and Olives

Does anyone know where I can buy hummus in Chiang Mai? I've looked in Big C, Tesco & Tops to no avail. Maybe there's a deli somewhere that make it? Same with olives, the only olives I've been able to find are plain or pimento stuffed, I'd like marinated with garlic or chili if possible...again perhaps at a deli?

    cheers
and he just stands there, waiting for me to drive my truck straight through him, with LIGHT coming out of his mouth!

Rim Ping is the only supermarket worth visiting in Chiang Mai. Why you're bothering with the others is beyond me.

oh boy holly are you in for a big surprise. If they dont have it, its not there. I have not seen it many places but here in bkk you can always get it at Cedars Restaurant, what soi 22? Wish I could have been more help.

But Rim Ping is better than most all markets here in BKK.

I have a care package arriving soon with some dried powdered hummis as one of the contents. Just add a little water and some olive oil to the powder, mix and bingo bango, instant hummis. Nice thing about this is it doesn't spoil, can be mixed to the consistency one likes, and it only takes 60 seconds to prepare. Any one have the peta bread????

Chick peas, tahini, olive oil, garlic and lemon juice run through a food processer. The prepared stuff is pretty dreadful. Pita bread is available at all the farang groceries. The best hummus in Bangkok is in the Lebanese restaurant in basement of the shopping center on Sukhumvit Soi 2.

Holly, even way out in the bush where we are we can produce humus.

Spend 250 baht on a blender and off you go.

. . . and a third branch between Narawat bridge and Gymkhana, just across from the small metal bridge . . . and a fourth at Kad Farang on the Hang Dong road.
