Bender or no bender it still would have been good to meet you. BTW where do you go on a bender in Ubon?
Well I think that our food is 'nice' and we are getting a lot of good feed back early on and heaps of repeat customers - apart from sabang - so we must be doing something right.
News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.

I was with Gordy, he came to visit me from Yassathon??? ...Anyway, we went to the bus station and got some whiskey and got a tuk-tuk to the sticks - it took a lot of work to explain to the driver that he coupld take us wherever he wanted, anyway - we ended up in the sticks and the rest is very good history.

He's in the process of revamping the menu and is most certainly not adverse to hearing criticism - quite the opposite in fact as he's well aware that what once was the most popular place to eat has nose-dived. The P&L accounts don't lie!

Competition in NK has been increased now with Milford's New York Jazz Bistro (excellent Greek/Mediterranean fare) and Beer Belly Billy's (pies and fish'n'chips).
Its a great location but has the look and feel of a place thats unloved, as for criticism, almost everything, only had small bottles of beer available, big ones on the menu but no have. The food is just awful, the owner just needs to try his own muck. The whole place is tatty, needs a cleanup and the staff are clearly untrained. I would never go again, wished I had tried the Jazz place instead, its Seppo owned right ? at least I won't some pom bar owner, banging on my ear about his favorite poof ball team.

From what I understood over on TV is that Martin is suffering from some sort of cancer, so maybe he has left the running of the place over to family members etc. He always seemed to be a nice bloke in his posts there, but perhaps now he has more pressing things on his mind - like his health.

Spent many evening in the FC...And really hated to see it go..it was a lot more fun than the current "Angelwitch"...One of the serving ladies(who was old when it was FC) is still there and on the few occasions that I stop in there, she will always come over and say Hello and try to mooch a drink...

No it wasn't. I ate there about 3 weeks ago and the Danish food was passable. The fish was a bit expensive and the portions small, but the Midget was happy of the opportunity to eat some smoked herring.

Also a mod {and major advertiser} at Surinfarang, a growing regional forum. Martin is a bit of a arsehole, to say the least. Surely couldn't why his good Thai wife left him a couple of years back. Farang Connection {annex} 2 went under some time back as did the fvcking badly run pizza place across the plaza that he had a small stake in.....considering all they do is traditional British/European fare, and his recent recovery from major surgery, I really can't see this place open for much longer - rumour has it he has had Farang Connection on the market for about a year now. No takers.

Why didn't you ask advice Before cruising Isaan scampy?
Some might consider Norby's a bit overrated. Probably gets a lot of attention because Farang hangouts are far and few between and extremely limited to Surin proper.

There are two German places in udon, both seem to be way above the English run establishments in quality of service and food, but even the English places seem to be another level higher than the three I have tried in NK.
Looking forward to trying the new jazz / Mediterranean restaurant in NK tho', sounds like my kind a deal, might Organize a bike ride with Marmers and he can buy the food.

Norby's food is quite delicious. He makes some mean schnitzel and potato salad. All portions are very large. He also sells various types of smoked meats and sausages, cheeses, bread, wine, and spirits. It's worth a try, Scamp.

Got the Estralia going, took it to NK yesterday, only does 120KPH but fast enough to keep ahead of you I guess. Yea, will make a trip up and give the jazz club a bash and a bit of a write up.
Will tell the guy we run TD and if we get looked after with free food and drink we will give him a great review.
If we get too pissed can always doss down at GP's place

You'll be joining me in the dog's house (where Marmers slept last time) then - cos that's where I usually end up after being on the pop (the missus bolts the main house from the inside and switches off her phone if I'm out after curfew).

Give me a heads up when you come. Milford makes fantastic savilaka (or something like that) which is a bit like a doner kebab, pork in pita bread.
