| Elite Member | Thai labels on Farang food!!! I am - for the first time in my life , trying to reduce weight ! ( Mods- please delete any sarky comments from E.G. I have this little book that gives a calorific value for just about everything' So using this I am checking that goes down my neck. Veggies, fish and meat are all listed by weight so there is no problem . If I want crackers, cottage cheese or just about anything imported from a supermarket I find that the section of the packaging that gives you the various values of the contents has a label in Thai stuck over it. Now you can't stand there and pick the sticker off so you have to trust the "Lite" or "Low Fat" blurb ! Any ideas why the Thais stick them on ? They don't normally eat farang food from supermarkets !! Ends up I get something labeled "Lite" and may as well drink a glass of melted butter ! Any suggestions to get around around this dilemma will be welcomed ! |

It's simple: EAT LESS, MOVE MORE. It's not rocket science. Going on different programs is a BS way of avoiding the real problem, unless you have a medical condition, you eat too much and don't move enough. Put that in reverse and you'll lose weight, it won't be fun, it won't be easy, your lazy tendiences will be telling you to stop, go back to eating too much while not moving enough. Don't listen to them. Eat until you are close being full 3 times a day. Exercise at any opportunuties - no need to start jogging and shit, just go for a walk once or twice a day, walk up and down stairs instead of elevators etc etc. Also don't eat after 18:30. Take a look at yourself after 2 months and you'll really see the difference. And feel the difference too. To recap: Eat til just about full 3 times a day. Change your routines to get as much daily exercise as you can. Don't eat after 18:30. Don't listen to your laziness telling you to sit, relax, and eat a pack of chocolate cream biscuits.

Am trying to do the first as, with arthritis in both knees, the second is not really an option ! However if I can reduce weight the prospect of walking more may not seem too bad

| Yes I know coz us Expats have clumsy fingers. Ask a Thai and they get it off nicely. Besides you ask for help, they rip, their bad. Not yours. Anyhooter they will giggle and pick another to peel for you. |

| Speaking of cottage cheese, anyone know where one can find decent quality largish curd cottage cheese in Bangkok? Villa, Foodland and the lot seem generally only to carry a small curd/ creamy version that I don't really care for. |
