My sister made all those kind of excuses too, as said - it ain't gonna be easy. 5 years later and she's still embarrassingly fat. Impluse eater, out and out. No self will.

Swimming is a great way of exercising, getting into 1 hour a day swimming routine is a great idea. Healthy for mind as well as every part of your body, and easy/quite good for the joints.

Best of luck.

Speaking of cottage cheese, anyone know where one can find decent quality largish curd cottage cheese in Bangkok? Villa, Foodland and the lot seem generally only to carry a small curd/ creamy version that I don't really care for.
Pay a visit to the top floor of the Emporium. Should be plenty there to satisfy your cheese cravings.
Been to Emporium a time or two. If I recall they carry the same cottage cheese as the rest, and it ain't to my liking - fairly small curds and too creamy for me. But I'll pop back in later this week and see if things have changed.

Fuck books and other BS.

It's simple:

EAT LESS, MOVE MORE.

Am trying to do the first as, with arthritis in both knees, the second is not really an option !
However if I can reduce weight the prospect of walking more may not seem too bad

Whilst eating less may help, the real way to lose weight is by not eating high calorific foods

so try to avoid all fats and sugars

if you eat less calories then you will lose weight

exercise hardly loses you any weight, but it does make you more healthy

Potato ???????

Rice ?????

An interesting article on the web recently (also saw it mentioned on some daytime program) People that keep a dairy of everything they eat will lose more than twice percentage as those that don't while dieting. FWIW

Just stay off the bread, rice, beer and whisky.

Meat, veges, and G & Ts are the way to go.

Not that I would know.

Should exercise as it does help to lose weight by burning more calories, instead of converting to fat.
Hence eat less, exercise more.

Actually, I've tried that & it's a good tip. Makes you think twice about if you really want something & stops the 'grazing without thinking'.

^ Agree with Fast Eddie. Swimming is great exercise and little strain on your knees. You can also just get a li-lo and paddle about with your arms.

You can't, they use that type of sticker that leaves half the paper on when you peel it off!
Or it rips off the top layer of the packaging (with the English text)
Or learn how to read backwards or stick the ripped off label up to a mirror.

I like Megahorn's suggestions, too. Try to eat more in the morning and only a bit later in the day. One monastery I stayed at had meals at 8am and 11am. That's it. The chicks there trying to learn how to meditate (not) and lose weight always had crisps in their rooms and gorged on them at night. (We always heard the bag rustles). Bad. It doesn't take long to change your eating habits once you start. Just a bit of discipline.
Good luck!

agreed

as for keeping a diary, that is good to help you check the food you have eaten

try to eat food that is difficult to spell as that takes a lot longer to write, then you have less time to eat

And the hardest thing, drink less beer! I've dropped a few pounds this week by just drinking one or two nights instead of seven.
