| Foods you miss...? Living abroad, sometimes you miss certain foods. I have been back in the UK now, 5 months after a 6 year sabbatical around Asia.. When I lived in Bkk I could get a lot of foods I like or similar, from Foodland,Tops, Carrefour, Tesco etc...but for some reason, it just was not the same. I am at home this very moment doing some research and have just eaten a bacon and egg sandwich, with heinz ketchup and black ground pepper.... I swear, this was cholesterol heaven! What do you miss from home? |

| From Scotland; Lorne sausage, Irn-Bru, chips with salt and sauce, well fired morning rolls, smoked sausage suppers, scotch pies, Yorkie bars, Minstrels, Crunchies, decent crisps, rum babas, Tetley tea-bags. Probably a lot more. Quarterpounder with Cheese from McDonalds. Sweet curry sauce with my McNuggets. From Australia; Cadbury's dessert chocolate bars - in particular the lemon meringue flavour one although the original UK Cadbury's chocolate tastes better for some reason, Solo lemon drink and Schweppes Original Cream Soda. I also miss being able to buy a decent bottle of vino at a reasonable price.

| I miss movie theater style popcorn that they have in the US in the cardboard tub. Dripping with that movie theater flavored butter! I hate the dry crap they serve here with no butter and their large would not be an extra small in America. I had about 250 Tetley Tea bags that a farang got me from somewhere in Patters, but I have not been able to find them since we moved to our new place. They have them in Pattaya.

| My mate brings them over every few months or so but they taste like shit in the water up here in Nong Khai. I prefer not to have a cuppa at his house anymore. Quote:

| Good cheese (Aussie stuff is rubbish) Real beer Walker's Crisps (rarely found here and bloody expensive when they are) Decent Tea (Tetley's is rubbish) A proper bloomer Proper vegetables Edible fish (I'm sure they add bones to the fish here) Affordable wine (It's getter better though) Chocolate hob-nods Gourmet sausages Still prefer it here though Coincidently, a friend was talking about chocolate today and about how shite the Aussie stuff is. I can't say I've ever tried it.

| Not much I miss at all really now. I used to miss good bread but now make my own and its got to the stage of being better than anything I can buy. The only thing thats easier in the west is being able to go to one supermarket and get everything you need. Here I go to Makro for certain things like, Parsley, Lemons and good Doi Kham tomatoes, and Tops for good beef. The small goods at Lotus are OK'sh, so you end up running aroun to 2 or 3 supermarkets to stock up and even then I have to get Tortilla's and burgul or whole wheat, from Villa in Pats or BKK, no one stocks it here. I do miss a good bit of Ozzie Cheese although it does miss the essential ingredient that Brit cheese has, I suppose the fact that half their cows are Mad has something to do with it. |
