As Happyman will verify, I had a world class episode of "the Hershey Squirts" while living in K. L. After a trip to the expat hospital (when I could manage to sit in a cab for 10 minutes - ie. when there was nothing left) where I was treated for de-hydration the doctor told me an interesting theory.

All White folk are at risk for sickness from various and multiple bacteria and germs, where the locals have 'adapted'. Most commonly described by the sufferers as food poisoning it is nothing more or less than a build up of bacteria that is 'triggered' into a spell of severe vomiting and expulsions. The local doctors called it White Man's disease and all had the same basic treatment.

Eat yogurt at least once a week, it keeps the good bacteria in your gut balanced.

When I lived in Mexico I got typhoid(from raw oysters), very nasty bit for 3 days.
Salmonella poisoning from chicken fajitas in stinky tourist dive.
In Thailand I haven't haven't had too many problems. And I eat raw oysters and dangerous nasties.
Here it's usually a 24 hour bacteria which I'll usually let run it's course and eat yogurt to build my natural immunities.

But if I'm on the road(and get the squirts) and don't have time to be sick I'll pop a couple doxycyclene which will knock out the run of the mill food bacteria within minutes.

Actually had you filmed your three episodes you might have been a nominee too; in any event you get prize.

I had the shits in India once for two weeks running.
Almost missed an opportunity to fly in one of the IAF's IL-76.
It was a tactical airdrop profile with far too many lurches and banks.
Cost me a fair bit of dignity and perfectly good pair of Hanes.

My remedy was returning to Japan.
