| 495THB for a pizza??? Has the price of flour risen that much? That to me says price gouge I'm afraid, and it's the main reason I haven't been in. Add to that the pizzas look uninspiring and the place is always empty with the staff hanging around inside or out talking on their phones. I tried Bangkok Pizza on Sukhumvit Soi 26 when it was open and it was terrible. Maybe I'm not a NY pizza kinda guy outside New York. Best pizza in the World is in Melbourne, Australia.

| 495 baht is about 15 bucks and for for a fresh hot 18 inch pizza that is not bad. What does Pizza Co. / Hut charge? There stuff is frozen and not fresh. Back home it is $20 bucks for the same pizza. I heard it is cheaper for pizza in Oz, but in Chicago $15 is not bad. Cheese is expensive in Thailand and so are pepperonis. Bangkok Pizza was terrible.

I gave one of the prized corner pieces to the BIL one to MIL and one for me. These fuckin people put ketchup on my pizza scopped out the stuffing and left the goddam crust!!! nest time they show up let em eat somtam

And this is Thailand, not the US. 495THB is a gouge IMO considering cost of the ingredients is 70THB max. As the place has been completely empty every time I pass (almost on a daily basis), then I suspect I'm not the only one who thinks their prices are too high. | |

| No that it matters but a package of maybe just 10 pepperonis is 80 baht, cheese is 4000 baht for a sleeve, good flour is a bit expensive and then you have to cover the cost of rent, utilities and staff. As far as Pizza hut, you get charged 400 baht or more for a pizza there and it ain't 18 inches and it REALLY sucks!! What is a fresh hot pizza cost in Oz? Anyhow, just sharing my dining experience with you guys! You don't have to go, but if you do get a slice for 65 baht! |

| No really ET, I have purchased a sleeve of local mozzarella cheese (maybe a foot long) from a local company in Korat and it was 3000 baht before the price of cheese went up. I was buying in bulk too, about 10 at a time. And the pepperonis are real expensive too. I was buying them from a German who mad the peps himself. At Macro the cheese is cheaper, the arro brand, but not as good. i think it was 2500 baht last year. |

| I think the pricing is pretty fair for the sizes offered, not that it adds much to the actual pizza but he's gotta be paying big money for that location. For me to make an 18'' Pepperoni size at home, it costs me about 140 Bt for ingredients, using half decent NZ cheese brought in 2 kg blocks, which is 60 Bt per portion alone. These prices are 6 months old, bet you could add another 30 baht now. |

| Chi - I am very familiar with the wholesale prices for foodstuffs in the Bangkok area. Wasn't trying to be a smart-arse, or argumentative, just pointing out his pricing is one of the reasons he ain't busy! Anyway, inspired by your thread I made my own deep dish Chicago style pie this afternoon. Not too bad for a first effort. Tasted way better than it looked. I didn't have any minced beef or I would have gone with that as a spiced ingredient. ![]() It was a usual water, yeast, salt flour combo just placed in a deeper pan and I went with a lower temp around 350 to ensure it was cooked right through. This style of pizza used more ingredients than a flat traditional style. ![]() ![]() |

| Total cost for this pizza was 90THB bearing in mind I shopped at Foodland for the ingredients hence the high cost. Toppings were pepperoni, onion, red bell pepper, chili and tomatoes. I used a local cheddar/mozzarella blend to enhance the flavour. Quote:

| Seriously, Chi, I love your restaurant threads, but these pizzas look pretty run-of-the-mill (from the restaurant) to me. There are half a dozen places here in HH that could do as well or better. Two that could do much, much better. (Mama Mia's & La Villa). As for the garlic bread - I make it much better than that. Now, your av pizza - if you find somewhere in BKK that does that, let me know. I'll be up in a flash!

| ^ I wish there was more of a choice when it comes to pizza in Bangkok, but there is not. Bangkok Pizza was the race among my mates and it was crap. I just like to let my friends here know what is out there. The Madrid has pizza, but I have not tried it yet. I will keep looking and when i find something better Teak Door will know about it!!! |
