I only have one question Chi, how are the Margaritas? Mrs. Kerr and I drink them for lunch most days on the weekend and shall be well pissed off if they have some rent boy or the like buggering them up

I looked in I gues the take out place on Sunday. There was one customer. It looked okay but I was looking for a place to sit down. I'm kind of mixed up about where the sit down place is. Is it on the Robinson side of the street? The take out place is in a little plaza. The picks you have posted look much better than the take out place I saw.

I'm also curious about Sambrosa. Where is it? Is it in Tops supermarket? Sounds interesting but a strange location.

The take out and the sit down restaurant are opposite each other in the same parking lot.

Wayne, as for the Margaritas - I don't drink.

Greg seems to be quite the businessman in Thailand. he owns the Sunrise Taco places, a Chester Grill. some Squeeze juice bars and other eating places as well.

Well, that says something about me. I've by that area over the years but didn't care too much for anything around there. I will definitely open my eyes the next time I go there. The food you posted looks great. The last time I had Mexican food was months ago at the place I think owned by some Californian on Soi 7 in Pattaya.

By the way have you ever tried Baja Fresh back in the US? That's a pretty good chain out in California.

One option for parking, though it might take a few more minutes, is to park at Times Square next door and then get a stamp at Boots or one of the other shops. I think you get 3 hours free parking that way.

Both the sit down and 'take away' (they do have a few stools inside there, too) shop are in the same parking lot as Leader Price, between soi's 12 and 14 (not 13).

Coming from San Diego, where I grew up eating MANY a meal from taco stands, I can say that this place is pretty good. They fokked up my wife's order, meaning that they completely didn't hear it when we ordered it ("oh, she's eating, too?" 30 minutes later). Other than that, the service is pretty good and the place is clean.

It's a bit odd at first, the way you order your tacos and burritos. You've gotta fill out a check list and check if you want beef, chicken, carnitas and black beans (good), refrieds beens and hot/mild/in-the-middle salsa. I can say that the guac is pretty tasty and I recommend the nachos. They don't really have many set items that you just order off of the menu. But once you get used the system, it's not a big deal.

I'm working in Times Square now, so I'll be at the place a lot.

Wayne, best margaritas in town are at Coyote on Convent and Silom. They have about 40 different Tequilas, but the house margarita is excellent, both frozen or on the rocks. Go at happy hour for best value 2 for 1.

I go back to BKK, in about a week, I think I will try this place. I have passed it many times, but I guess, I just eat too much thai food....maybe a little mex is in order...Is there anyplace like that in Changmai? I am there now, and am going roaming

Not quite like this and not sure if it is still there, but there is a little taco place tucked away by the food court in the mall in Chiang Mai. It was good.

Sunrise Tacos Continues to Grow. (February 26th 2008)

Greetings!

Sunrise Tacos continues to expand, and we now
have four outlets serving our acclaimed
authentic Mexican menu around central
Bangkok. Since the opening of our first shop
around a year ago in the Leader Price
Shopping Mall, next to the Times Square
Building, between Sukhumvit Soi 12 and Soi
14, demand has been such that we have needed
to grow. The original shop is now a takeaway
"taqueria" outlet, as it has been
supplemented by a dine-in restaurant directly
opposite, providing 50 extra seats. Both
venues are open 24 hours, seven days a week,
although the original shop now becomes a
tortilla factory and delivery centre with
limited seating.

Our original store is still open
24 hours a day, but has now become a tortilla
factory and delivery centre with limited
seating

Regular visitors to Sunrise Tacos
have been delighted with the new ambience
that the sit down restaurant in soi 12
provides.

Both of these shops provide ample onsite
parking, yet are within two minutes of the
Asoke BTS Skytrain station and the Sukhumvit
MRT Subway station. The new restaurant is
beautifully decorated, and has received
acclaim from diners and critics alike.

The new Sunrise Tacos sit down
restaurant in soi 12 is open for business 24
hours a day.

Last June ago we opened a branch of Sunrise
Tacos in the new Park Food Hall on the fifth
floor of the acclaimed Emporium Shopping
Mall, which is connected to the Phrom Phong
Skytrain station on Sukhumvit Road. This
location is due to expand later this year
when it will become a stand alone restaurant
(rather than sharing communal seating with
other outlets as at present), meaning you can
sip our fabulous margaritas while enjoying
the sounds of Mexican music. Look for this
to open in June, but in the meantime please
continue to enjoy eating our extensive
Mexican menu at the existing outlet.

Our fourth outlet, a stand alone restaurant
with seating, recently opened in the
prestigious Siam Paragon Shopping Centre Food
Court, on the ground floor of the building,
which is right next to Siam Skytrain station.
You can find us located near the supermarket
and Secret Recipe.

The newest of the Sunrise Tacos
chain is handily placed in the Siam Paragon
Food Court.

Our Delivery Service is fully operational 24
hours a day, and we are pleased to announce
our partnership with ChefsXP.

All orders can easily be placed 24 hours a
day, seven days a week, online at
ChefsXP.com - NO mark-up food delivery-

Customers are assured that all prices at
ChefsXP are NO MARKUP prices and are the
actual prices at Sunrise Tacos, and that a
flat delivery fee of 60 baht is charged from
1030-2230hrs. anywhere in Bangkok, while
night-time delivery fees vary according to
your location and distance.

A range of new menu items has also been
introduced, and these include a selection of
platters, as seen above. It is hoped these
will satisfy the biggest hungers at very
affordable prices. Many diners have been
ordering the sizzling steak fajitas, but the
fish tacos have also proved popular, as they
are made with fresh red snapper. But please
remember to save room to sample our extensive
dessert menu, which features a range of
homemade pies, including apple, pumpkin, key
lime and fresh strawberry cheesecake. The
apple pie has proved to be the biggest hit so
far, as it is made fresh every afternoon
using Granny Smith apples imported from
Washington State in the USA. Everything used
in our pies is fresh, from the pie crust to
the pumpkin, and we now also feature premium
coffee, using imported Mexican coffee beans,
with a "bottomless" mug of coffee costing
just 59 baht.

At Sunrise Tacos in Bangkok we believe in
fresh, nutritious, high-quality food. There
are no fillers in our food, no shortcuts, and
everything is 100 percent fresh. Only the
absolute best quality produce and meats are
utilised. At Sunrise you can be assured that
you are getting the very best meal. We do not
allow cans in our kitchen, or MSG or
preservatives. Everything MUST be made from
scratch, including our crispy corn and soft
flour tortillas. In fact you will often find
a staff member rolling out a corn or flour
tortilla, and you will smell the aroma of
freshly made tortillas as soon as you enter
our shops.

Tried Sunrise out. It was okay, not great, just okay. Didn't realise until after eating the nachos that they didn't include guacamole. make sure they give you a scoop. I asked for everything. I think they're trying to skimp because avacadoes go for 60 baht a piece at tops. The salsa was okay but nothing special. But if you want Mexican food its not bad for Bangkok.

I think that guy Greg was there. He doesn't look to healthy. If he doesn't take care of himself he probably won't last more than 8 -10 years.
