    99Baht Buffet, South Pattaya road

Well Valentines night I was going to take the galfriend out and treat her to a nice meal at some American joint on South Pattaya road, its called Bobs something or other opposite soi rungland, alas a car wanted to have a race with me from the traffic lights, realising my priorities I raced him to sukuvit and then done a uturn to try and find this place, This was when she mentioned about the obesity problem that Americans have and how she didn't want to be as fat and obese as one of them so she suggested the 99 baht buffet place.

    Pattaya Restaurant Guide

This place has been open for a couple of months now and must cover nearly one rai of land, yep it is foking huge and was packed, half of it is covered and the other half is completely open.

The buffet has a very large selection of stuff that no normal person would eat, infact half the meat selection was quite unrecognisable, still next up we got the food and the cooking machine thingy.

My first foray into the self service area was not very successful, this was due to me not actually knowing what the fok most of the stuff was and the stuff I knew what it was looked pretty grungy to me, anyway here is a picture of my first plate.

It was at this time that I wished we had gone to the yankee restaurant to sample their allegedly fine bbqued ribs.

Anyway here is a picture of the cooking pot, now in theory they are a great idea, you can bbq or boil your food, in practise they are terrible, sitting in 80 to 90 degrees and haveing a bonfire and boiling water in the middle of the table.

Anyway cos I am smart I sent me son off to get some pigs fat to grease up the metal bbq thing so it wouldn't end up as a blackened mess, soon as he was back I went off to have a look at the offerings.

For some reason my son thought the pig fat was to go into the boiling water part, so as you can see we ended up with a blackend mess of awful tasting burnt meat yet again.

Still I did find a use for the ice bucket, although I still have no idea why they all still think that farangs would want ice with their beer.

The food selection was quite good if you were a Thai, but as you can see in this picture they only put out a kilo of prawns per time and there was a couple of hundred people there so they didn't last long.

Is that a plate of fries in the pic? I don't like cold soggy fries. They don't seem to make a good buffet item.(middle left)

I forgot to mention the Cheers beer girls, yep they got a few of these gals dotted about trying to sell you that crappy beer, obviously they realised that I was a man with a disererning palate and didn't waste their time approaching me, I think it was my fake polo bumbag that must have impressed them the most, I just reek of class I do when I dress up in me best flip flops, shorts and nice fake t shirt

I will second marmites opinion... It seems like a spin off of the Korean barbecues that sprung up a couple of years ago up here.
