    Cantina

...an Italian restaurant on rapidly developing Sukh soi 11...Cantina-db708ce7-2210-4338-a27b-ab86f0bf79be-jpgCantina-509bf96e-11bf-41a4-b96b-967e2f6e373f-jpgCantina-s__9117699-jpgCantina-s__9117698-jpg...we started with avocado/tomato bruschetta on crusty sour dough bread and a lightly battered container of squid and zucchini...both delicious. Aglio olio with peperoncino on linguine followed with a finale of pizza topped with smoked scamorza cheese, Italian sausage and rocket...both well prepared and served in a timely manner. An excellent Montepulciano red for me and a freshly squeezed orange juice for SD to accompany...the restaurant is a bit of a hike from the Nana BTS station, but we noted a number of new restaurants opening so we'll probably return to the area in the coming weeks...

I'm surprised you see Suk Soi 11 as 'rapidly developing'.

It used to be 'Farang Street', now it seems to me more like 'Little India'.

I often stay at LeFenix on Soi 11

...we didn't notice a particular Indian presence (tailors, restaurants, smelly touts, etc)...we did notice new Jap, Spanish, "American" and Italian restaurants among the numerous trendy bars, however...

In tc's head that's at least partly triggered by him being there.

Was my home away from home years back. Heard it's getting a bit shoddy now.
Not surprised Suk 11 is developing. Good location in a diverse market area.

    In deed it is.

They have changed ownership/management from the last time I stayed there.

And yes, they are getting tired.

The clientele was almost exclusively from the sub-continent at my last stay.

I had booked and paid through one of the Hotel booking sites, arrived about 2.30 and they apologisied that they had overbooked and offered me another Hotel.

@#*#$*#$*#&#U* ... oh Sir, a room has just become available

Plus the Hotel Tuk-tuk was nowhere to be seen

... but we digress from TC's review

^ Well, if that's the case, the lady who does the Pork noodles (mai our tub) for 50 baht opposite the new Villa Mart where Soi 11 splits and she is on the left, is excellent.

Usually I'd only pay 35 Bht but everything is more expensive in Soi 11

    LeFenix has many memories.

First Hotel our Boys stayed in.

Exploring their cupboard with the light that goes out when you slide the door closed.

To me he looks a bit like the lead singer of Labanoon.

The word "Cantina" evokes a Spanish/Mexican/Eastern Honduras expectation rather than an Italian one to my uneducated mind...

The brushetta looks great...the aoili for the calamari didn't photograph well.

I do appreciate the review and should have said as much before my commentary. Thanks again, Tom.
