They have one of the best curry powders I've ever used, and I've tried many. Thai brand (or re-brand), I forget the name. Joon Mee or something.
I'd love for there to be a Villa here. Closest that I know of is Hua Hin, 6 or 8 hours on the train.

been a lover of good food all my life, which almost caused my downfall.
as for meats I have been a customer of PON YANG KHAM,beef at its best, sunday is traditional in the uk.roast beef and Yorkshire pudding.
pon-yang kham's sirloin/rump is the finest bar none for roasting.and the dripping from the meat for roast spuds.
    I wish I could post photo's.

Talking about Villa Markets not upcountry yet, Tops Markets are a good alternative.

Same quality of meats and fish - just not as much selection re specialty items & vino.

^^Depends quite a bit on the location. There is a Makro near us in Rayong, catering to mainly Thai customers only. Poor quality, service and selection of goods, but go to the Makro near Pattaya, and it doesn't even look like the same brand at all. Totally the opposite.

Foodland beats Villa hands down, but we still go to Villa occasionally as they do carry quite a few items that nobody else does. Not just me who thinks this either, we go to Villa and there'll be one cash register open with nobody at it, from there we drive to Foodland where there'll be 5 cash registers open and all of them are being used.

Cut the apron strings, buttercups. You live in Thailand. Make the switch to maeng daa, pla daek and khao niew, with linen table napkins of course.

^Yeah sure, just as Thai's who move to America won't be buying or eating Thai food ever again. Leave that line of bullshit for Jeff, he's perfected it.

    Damn right!
When moi hits the local Saturday afternoon Taalaat Nat, the vender women faint with anticipation.
Here comes that good-looking conniving farang who strikes a mean deal!

Check the use by or expiry date on food. The Pattaya outfit regularly removed manufacturers dates and added their own stickers. If you can’t see a manufacturer’s date then it’s safe to assume it’s out of date. Even the chicken sold on the butcher counter was up to a week out of date when you saw the original CP plastic packaging
