    Mexicano

...live music (Guantanamera)! Mexican chef! Free-flow margaritas (B499)! What's not to love? An all-you-can-eat buffet (B899) ambushed us when we arrived for lunch at the Rembrandt Hotel Mexicano restaurant (Sukh. soi 18)...no mention of this on the website. The rambunctious crowd looked like day trippers on a down market cruise to nowhere from a lesser Caribbean port...we took a chance and are glad we did. We sampled six food stations and weren't disappointed with our choices: beef and chicken fajitas freshly prepared, a number of tasty salads, sides, soups and stews, bbq'd pork ribs and roast sea bass, ceviche, tacos and as much guacamole and chips as would fit on a plate...by the second margarita, I was humming along with old standards (Besame Mucho!) and enjoying a number of elderly Latino couples as they two-stepped to the music. By the 4th margarita I was making requests of the guitar player and his competent bongo-playing lead singer (Cielito Lindo! La Bamba!). We took the hotel extended tuk-tuk back to Sukhumvit as walking had become a challenge...fortunately, no one we knew was there so plausible deniability is still possible...no return visit considered...B2,000.

Can't green you TC and owe you one, your post deserves it.

If ever you're in Pattaya and want a good Mexican feed, seek out Dave's Cantina.

Surprised that SD does not require you to shave your arms.

Sounds like you had a great time to me and SD's cheapest date ever.

Seems you really enjoyed your food and drink TC, and wrote a good review. I am going to pm Norton and tell him to call me or message when he is coming down. Had my mouth watering.

I was sure it was going to get all thumbs up, but no. No return visit considered. Why TC after such a glowing review?

Was that an office party going on?

Somehow the atmosphere doesn't quite seem right...is that why it's only a single visit? Or did you let the side down, quaffing too many margaritas?

    Food looks good though...

In the last few years only reason for going to Bangkok was to get my income affidavit from US Embassy. May never set foot there again now embassy no hab. Just make my own Mexican at home now. Cheap as chips and as good or better than most restaurants. Pop up here AO for good Mexican food.

...the reason for no return visit is that I tend to overeat at all-you-can-eat buffets and drink far too many free-flow libations...nothing wrong with the food, the drink or the atmosphere (as corny as it was)...the problem is me: I prefer menus and drinks by the glass...not the tankard...

That is only the second time I have seen one of those chocolate fountains. The last time was at the evening reception at a work conference I was at for a week in Bangers in 2004.

Maybe it is the same one.

Yes but when the dude is gay then the victim impact is much higher and brings gayness itself into disrepute and this calls for exemplary sentencing guidelines....

Now it becomes clear, the tuk tuk exit was a reaction to Ayams. Aw TC don't blame you.

Nothing wrong with Chinos and a light blue check shirt providing its a button down, accompanied by an ivy league blazer and tie.

Nice review by the way, could hammer a Mexican.

Might have to do a Mexican dish food thread in the kitchen

...I meant to mention that no refried beans or rice were available...maybe because the chef is Mexican and not Tex-Mexican?...anyway, neither were missed...
