...live music (Guantanamera)! Mexican chef! Free-flow margaritas (B499)! What's not to love? An all-you-can-eat buffet (B899) ambushed us when we arrived for lunch at the Rembrandt Hotel Mexicano restaurant (Sukh. soi 18)...no mention of this on the website. The rambunctious crowd looked like day trippers on a down market cruise to nowhere from a lesser Caribbean port...we took a chance and are glad we did. We sampled six food stations and weren't disappointed with our choices: beef and chicken fajitas freshly prepared, a number of tasty salads, sides, soups and stews, bbq'd pork ribs and roast sea bass, ceviche, tacos and as much guacamole and chips as would fit on a plate...by the second margarita, I was humming along with old standards (Besame Mucho!) and enjoying a number of elderly Latino couples as they two-stepped to the music. By the 4th margarita I was making requests of the guitar player and his competent bongo-playing lead singer (Cielito Lindo! La Bamba!). We took the hotel extended tuk-tuk back to Sukhumvit as walking had become a challenge...fortunately, no one we knew was there so plausible deniability is still possible...no return visit considered...B2,000.
