    French St.

...located on CharoenKrung 36 (also known as Rue de Brest). A pleasant understated environment that offers meals in its quiet, well-shaded garden. I started with croquettes while SD had the zucchini carpaccio in a delicate dressing: both were excellent. We moved on to the poached eggs Benedict on smoked salmon for me and steak, eggs and chips (with harissa instead of ketchup) for my loved one. The mains were pleasantly satisfying and left us room for dessert: rhubarb cheesecake and a foamy chocolaty pudding. B2,400 with 4 glasses of a light Spanish red and water. Efficient service, peaceful garden, great Motown muzak: a wonderful experience. On our way out the live entertainment was already performing: a tuba, a trombone, a clarinet and a guitar doing standards: we left just in time. Definitely planning a return lunch visit...

I hope your rhubarb cheesecake was better than the rhubarb crumble I ate recently in Thailand. There was hardly enough rhubarb to feed an ant.

    Outstandingly objective, per usual TC.
Looks nice, yet the plating technique and presentation looks to be straight outta the 1970s.

    Perhaps a retro inspired setting.

    Cheers!!

    It looks great, Tom.

Your benedict was served on a bagette, right? That's actually kind of a cool idea.

...imagine the last time you could afford steak...
is that the best response you could come up with to the realisation that your "steak" was in fact the carbonised left overs of yesterdays buffalo roast.

surely we have reached "peak foodie" by now.
how much longer do we have to put up with photos of food as art, which tell us nothing about the taste but all about the superficiality of the poster, the price of these plates of manicured pap and the bank accounts of the restauranteurs as they trouser the takings and snigger at the naivety of their customers.

    Zucchini carpaccio for instance?
But to be fair, as was said above: If someone has money to throw away, why not enjoy?

enjoy away to your hearts content, but please, stop deluding yourself that the rest of the world gives even half a damn what the latest iteration of a fucking fried egg looks like as it drowns forlornly in a tsunami of mayo and some unpronounceable herb on its slate, brick, platter, anything but a fucking plate, going cold whilst being photographed for instagram, facebook and teak door by those vacuous beings obsessed with documenting every waking moment of their empty lives.
