Thread: Favorite and least favorite national cusines

Favorite: Thai food for the sheer variety, spiciness, amount of fish and seafood dishes and relative healthiness- it helps that a lot of it goes well with beer,too.

Least favorite: Burmese, save for some traditional Shan dishes. Over oiled, bland and served after it has been sitting in the blazing sun for half the day.

Faves: lebanese, spanish, thai, japanese, french, hungarian

Least: Phillipino

Faves: Mexican, Spanish, German, Italian, Viet

Least: Thai, Flipper

Best: Italian, Mexican. (Honorable mention to some Thai seafood dishes and Indian Tandoori cuisine).

Worst: English, Filipino. (I included England even though they have no cuisine as such, other than greasy trash fish and soggy fries wrapped in newspaper).

best: mediterranean--particularly lebanese.
worst: filipino

Happy just hit the nail on the head as far as I am concerned. But Mexican would beat out Thai now as its just too long on the same cuisine here.

But I would always hit an In and Out burger in California if home and cruising and hungry. Not first choice but always a damn good burger. Made fresh daily.

Sadly you will never know the delights of my mums home made meat and potato pie. She's dead, and I'm filling up just thinking about it.

The simple things in life are the best!

I have had the opportunity to travel the world being entertained by business partners and the like but my favourite foods are proper baked fresh bread, fresh fish cooked in butter and lemon and bubble and squeak on a Monday or Tuesday.

Simple cuisine but real cuisine.

Posted this in a hurry, I do have many more favorite cuisines

Russian- being a massive country the scope of dishes on offer is impressive. Russian Tapas with good vodka. It requires quite a gathering to really enjoy it.

Hungarian: One of my favorite countries in the world and the food is a big factor. Spicy Carp soup would be my top recommendation on the shores of Lake Balaton

Lebanese: Great salads, grilled meats and breads with dips.

Chinese: Szechuan food hits all the right spots for me. Have a decent bar serving it up in Mandalay and it's becoming a regular for Friday night.

Live in Issan and if I never eat real Thai Issan food again, would be a happy man, som tam Issan/Lao style, not eatable unless born here.
Give me US pizza, UK roast beef and Yorkshire pudding and a full English breakfast, and most food that comes from around the Med and I would be not only happier, but a lot fatter.

When I lived in Germany, my favorite cuisine was the Balkan stuff. Terrific flambe desserts too.

Favorites are Thai and Mexican (Thai first)

Least favorites: American and English, Chinese/Taiwanese (even though some dishes are great, the countries are filled with low quality shit food on the whole)

If your eat that garbage every day, your health will be shit and there is no doubt about it. Plus the American diet is much worse on the daily then the stuff that is on that page. And it appears like some of our most worthwhile contributions are "hamburgers" and "pizza"

American food is shit. Texas BBQ on the other hand....that is something to be proud of I will say that. Nobody in the world does BBQ better.

I would like to try those and see if they hold up in their respective countries. Middle eastern food is phenomenal here in the states. It doesn't make my list because I haven't seen the countries...yet

Tons of great dishes in Issan. The larb is fantastic, for one thing. Catfish soup on the Mekong....the food is really fantastic in the region. Some phenomenal dishes

Clearly you have not spent much time in cities like San Francisco, New Orleans, NY etc. American cuisine is far from shit. In my city chain restaurants do not exist for the most part. Most have gone out of business because people here do not eat that shit.

You can stick to your Thai food I will tuck in to an appetizer of half dozen fresh local oysters on the half shell while waiting for one of the best seafood Cioppino's at my local contemporary American restaurant.

Exactly.

French, Italian ( I love penne portofino), Mexican, Southern USA Cajun style, and of course Thai food. love Thai curries especially and most things spicy.

Had the great displeasure to eat Chinese food in the back blocks and cities in China. It was shit.
My Oz favourites, roast lamb in mint sauce with baked potatoes and cauliflower in cheese sauce, Barrumundi fish cooked in butter with beer battered potato wedges with sour cream and chives. Prime grass fed Australian steak cooked medium rare on an open flame BBQ is a steak worthy of the gods.
Worst thing i have ever eaten taste wise was jelly fish. Nearly did a technicolour yodel in the restaurant.
