They use greaseproof paper to wrap the soggy chips nowadays. Got to agree with Davis.

You're just defining "cuisine" in a way that isn't really how people eat everyday. You don't eat that everyday, you're citing oysters for Pete's Sake and then claiming that American cuisine is good? That's a meal, not a cuisine. I cited BBQ which encompasses a far bigger set of food.

American food on the whole/on average is in fact shit. Yes, you can avoid the shit if you want but to pretend the average American diet doesn't consist of much shitty food or that its stereotyping is ridiculous. How ridiculous is it to pretend that more than half the country's diet doesn't exist?

Cuisine encompasses the whole set of food, not just the meals you like.

^The best thing about American cuisine is that you can walk a few city blocks in some of the cities that have not yet sunk into urban decay and find restaurants from dozens of different countries. When I lived in DC, I had Italian, Thai, Chinese, Korean, Indian, Ethiopian, Vietnamese and others literally at my doorstep.

Totally agreed. I just got done eating Indian and it was absolutely incredible.

Then later I had dinner. Ba-boom!

^Forgot to mention two fantastic BBQ joints and a great "create your own" submarine sandwich shop.

My grandpa used to make it all the time. Catfish we caught right out of the white river in Arkansas, hush puppies, fried potatoes on our plates within an hour of pulling the fish out of the water. The ladies would be back at the trailer preparing the sides.

It was great. And the meal still is. Once a year or so.

Forgot to put Saudi at the bottom of my list. Dates, goat, fish, rice ---repeat.

Also just about any other Arab cesspool.

I knew someone would quibble, but I didn't count Lebanese or Syrians as "Arabs".

Goat was mentioned. Is lamb so different from sheep/goats? Quibbling.......

Arabic food is basic and boring... meat, bread, humous.. they say Lebanese is the best but it doesn't have much competition in the region; it does at least have some flavoring and a little imagination put into it.

I'll be back in the UK at xmas and apart from the roast dinner I can't think of anything else that I'm craving to eat and sure I'll probably miss being able to get authentic Indian food and not the slop in a tray you get there... funny thing is I always used to crave 2 fried eggs on toast on my return, so I'll probably have that along the way.

I really love the Indian food in Malaysia with the Roti Canai and a cup of Tea Taree.

I am trying to get the missus to make the same and she has almost cracked it.

Of that there is no doubt. I could elaborate but I think I would be wasting my time.

Check out your Colonial past. and your dishes you mother still makes for you. You obviously don't know anything about the history of your country.

Start off with New England on your quest in the google search engine.

It's an olafactory thing for me.

Russian homes I have visited that smelled permanently of boiled cabbage.
Getting on lifts in Seoul and the people reeking of fermented garlic.
