    Hooters - Bangkok

The famous American chicken/burger/oyster restaurant has opened in Bangkok.
One of the original Burger Evaluation Team members has a birthday today, so it was decided to check Hooters out, so to speak.

Located about 50 meters down Sukhumvit Soi 15, one can enter the hallowed halls of

    HOOTERS

Walking into the place, I couldn't help but notice how upscale the place has become. It's really nice, spacious, airy and comfortable. The staff were friendly and attentive and as always, ready to have a picture taken.

Speaking to that regard here's the menu:

I couldn't help but be completely shocked by how expensive the food and drinks are there. I've not been to the states in over a decade but for the life of me I'd never thought I'd be dropping $100 US on burgers/wings and beer at a Hooters.

We had fried dill pickles which were superb and the portion size was nice, considering I could have bought a large jar of Vlassic dills from Villa for less than what I paid.

The wife ordered the beef sliders and the birthday boy ordered chicken sliders:

Some more food porn...burgers and stuff:

    Wings (350B for 10)

    Philly Cheesesteak (500B)

    Chicken Burger (~350B)

    Dessert

Way over priced and the food was generally shite. The curly fries with the Philly cheese steak were completely unseasoned and mine came with salt and pepper. Pepper on fries? Why not a dash of smoked paprika instead?

The burgers were way over cooked, I ordered mine medium rare and got well done. They were also bland and "mealy" like there was too much filler in them.

I won't be back. Complete disappointment was the general feeling from the 5 of us that ate, considering our tab came to ~4300B.

    Ambiance: 8
    Service: 9.5
Food: 4.63 (The fried dill pickles were very yummy)
Drink: 5 (433B for 3 pints of Singha, though they were buy 1/get 1 as was the margaritas)

Won't be back, too rich for my blood.

in other words, exactly the same as all american fast food.

the food does indeed look disgusting and why someone would choose to eat food in a place like that advertises itself on the size of its waitresses tits rather than the quality of its food is beyond me, but then again a lot of adult american culture that is more suited to pre pubescent males seems bizarre to brits.

If they are going to hire ladyboy staff, they should go for ones with more silicone. Otherwise it comes under the trades descriptions act or whatever the Thai equivalent is.
    Useful review.

The waitress chats us up with a fine American accent. I ask her where she's from and she says she's from Brazil and I about spit out my beer.

She could be the splitting image of my ladybody BIL, who always claims he's from Brazil when dressed up, down to the same mannerisms.

I think they're only at night, honestly, we just looked at the menu and ordered. It's not like there was a huge sign right in front of me with those offers on it.

We also wanted to try a variety of things, not just have a plate of nachos or something.

    American capitalism at its bestest!!!!!!

I can't imagine why someone would pay the prices to dine there as the girls are about the only attraction. For that kind of money, I could had tons of fun right down the street, during which I was eating an equally satisfying burger from McD's.

I suppose if you live in bumfuck michigan and never see a decent looking bird there might be some point in going to this chain. Play pocket billiards for an hour or so.

    But on sukhumvit soi 15?

Definitely not the easiest soi to navigate, it's pretty damn thin with tons of traffic.

We parked at the Robinson's on soi 17 and walked over.

If I looked at the menu and saw those prices I would have walked out. Simple.

Walk out struggle through the hookers on sukumvit and make your way down to soi 1 and go in Beirut Lebanese and have a great meal for 1/3 of that.

Write up a review please. As we were leaving, I saw the Argentinian Steakhouse as well, which is one I've been wanting to try for years.

There's tons of places down there to get better food cheaper. We could have gone to one of the hi-so hotel's lunch buffets and ate/drank like kings and watched the girls on the sidewalk go by.

You'd have a bit of a long walk, it's moved to Sukhumvit 39 now
