Thread: Honey, raw it must be ! or nothing it will be worth

Real unadulterated honey, hard to find, even in Thailand as most of it's got water added.

Idea of the post came as my daughter told me that raw honey is dangerous, contains whatever poison and must be pasteurized to be safely consumed...

And the 2 jars i just purchased in Europe

Damn misleading internet and unscrupulous labelling...

Friend just brought me five jars down from Baguio. Kids are eyeballing them already - won't last long!

The breakfast cereal " Golden Puffs " says on the box, puffed wheat coated with sugar and honey.
How pure is this honey

I heard of this only recently, despite having kept bees years ago. I don't think there's too much cause for concern though.

Had my suspicions. i've been using half a tea spoon in tea rather than the white/brown sugar.
Like my coffee without milk or sugar/honey.
When i came back here after many moons i inquired about the label on the honey jar and if i was buying pure honey. Nobody could give me a straight answer.

So ta forreachingme.

Actually have the crap in my tea now. Which will be the last.

Yes it says PURE HONEY on the jar.

Not sure if it good for the Honey, but my wife was given some from Laos. She put it in the freezer. If it doesn't freeze ie. a lava lamp-like bubble still moves inside it. It is real.

Just got given 3/4 litre of honey straight from somebody's hive. Not sure what to do with it as I don't eat much honey. I like honey and lemon when I have got a cold but I only get a cold once every 2 years. I think I might start the honey and lemon drink just for fun. Also I might put it in my winter porridge instead of sugar.

It is straight form a hive and has bits in in it. One of the bits floating near the top actually looks like a bee sting.

I normally buy the Raw organic from lemon farm. Take my chances!

With all the monsanto crap, pesticides sprayed around crops and fields
you have to wonder ;does any of it end up in the raw honey.
No borders where this stuff is used.
Just a thought.

Just got 100% pure real honey and got the trick from ancients how to easy spot the fake in the jar...
Got 4 x 1 kg jars, hmm 2.5 gone already, the kilo was 6 Euro only (Romania)

I have a couple of other jars i bought previously, labelled as 100% but do not pass my fake test.

I don't know anyone that purchases the store bought variety.

Always collected wild when needed.

My neighbour has three hives so I get to taste the real thing. Will post pics later.

It's nothing but bees wax. I tried some.

Wasps have no wax glands so don't make wax honey comb as bees do. Wasps' nests are made of fibre.


Bees are vegetarian and gather nectar to regurgitate as honey, as well as pollen as store food, while wasps are carnivores so don't, although some species do produce a little honey.

You'd burn your mouth if it was real lava...I'm assuming it hasn't sat for 50 years cooling...
