Does your missus like it or grin and bear it?

Seven years with the old dear and and 99% of the non-Thai food that I've cooked has either been only eaten by me or the dogs, or both; I've done Xmas dinners, steaks, stews, pizza, and pies amongst others.

Today I had a massive result - hot chicken and potato vindaloo. They loved it. Previous attempts at tandoori chicken and tikka masalla went down like a led zeppelin. Funny thing is I'd only made enough for me cos the dogs are way too fuggin fat, so all the family got was a taste. Tough shit.

Pretty lucky with my misses, been together about 6 years and she'll eat most farang food no problem, apart from lamb. Went to Sure Park for lunch today on Soi Nern Plub Waan, got Thai food on the menu but she still had a roast dinner.

She'll eat farang food when nothing else is available - with a basket of sticky rice.

Mine goes for Thai food 99 percent of the time, I sort of begrudge it though paying for Thai food in a normal English restaurant though and she generally complains about it not being so good, easier just to take them to Thai restaurants

What about YOUR cooking? Does she like it?

They'll eat it outside but what I make seems to get passed over all the time.

Just to say, in the UK my cooking skills were able to remove a girl's pair of knickers.

Being a cook only having 2 rice pots and a small cookie oven belonging to my wife in Thailand I havent had any major problems but she still insists that it costs to much for electricity. She runs the TV all night long though and insists that I eat sticky rice 5b.
They eat what I cook, no problem but I just found out she doesn't like garlic and I use a bit of it. The kid stated that he has never eaten this good in his whole life as he supped on a bowl of meatloaf simmered in a tomato sauce with potatoes and spice. One of my favorites. But now she wants it and the burgers made exclusively with ground pork. Maybe with the right spices I might tolerate the change.

Mine turns out is a Coconut (brown on the outside and white on the inside)! She says "not true" but when it"s BBQ time! This girl can eat steak, baby back ribs, baked potatoes and beans with Garlic Bread and still leaves room for watermelon or ice cream. She just had her first Apricot Ale and loved it! Whats next Rodeo and Stock Car racing?

The only thing that the missus will eat that I cook is the spaghetti bolognaise sauce. She chops up a bunch of chillis, refrys it and eats it with rice.

My Ol' lady never ate western food until I came along. She has problems boiling water. She loves my cooking. Still want her Kanom Jin fix every once in a while, I met her she was 40 kilos, she is now 50. Added weight kinda looks nice on her, most of it sits just above her legs...

My 'Missus' loves lamb, or a traditional English breakfast with plenty of black pudding, in fact the only 'Falang' food she will not eat is cheese!
When she lived in the U.K., after trying various Thai restaurants, she refused to eat in them, saying that they were too expensive with poor quality food. She does, however enjoy Indian food, and never refuses a chance to sample it.

Mine'll eat just about anything that comes out of a wasteland larder save for smelly moldy bluish/green cheeses.

Mine's choice is usually roast lamb, but she can put up a good show with most other farang food...needed a bit of training mind you.

Ms. B lived abroad for a number of years and worked as a waitress in hotel restaurants, so she's well familiar with non-Thai food. She usually avoids beef and only does cheese if it's on top of a pizza. Doesn't like the smell of lamb. We have peanut butter and jelly on whole wheat bread every morning for breakfast, but only have Western food now and then.

We're finally going to be moving in to a house with a kitchen (fingers crossed) so we'll soon see what sort of non-Thai dishes the two of us cook up.

after introducing them to her, my thai friend loved marmite on toast - and cheddar cheese on jacobs cream crackers.
i was very surprised and disappointed that my cheese stocks would run out so fast.

i had always thought that marmite was only palatable by those who had been force fed it as children. seems i was wrong

My 'ol lady will eat anything, from hunks of my expensive hard and blue cheeses to roast Lamb.
Worst of all my kids only eat western food, they run a mile when Mum starts chopping up for the Som Tam, They don't even like Thai style bread, nag me to bake a Rye or whole wheat.
We could live for half the price if they would eat rice porridge rather than Bacon, eggs and Baked beans for breakfast.

Mine's as comfortable with a steak as Isaarn food. About all she doesn't like is thick crust pizza, and chips.
She still sometimes orders Thai in a western restaurant if thats what she feels like though.
But having lived in HK and Australia, she's pretty versatile.
