Burger Bros - Phra Rama 9, Soi 40/Hua Mark Rd, Soi 25

Burger Bros - Check out their site HERE......

A couple of weeks ago I went by this place on my way to work and I thought after the wonderful burger I had at Papa's, I'd give this place a whorl.

I was frigging amazed. Simply, amazed.....

Imagine a kind of retro burger place in suburban America and this joint is exactly what comes into my mind. It's comfortable, open and there's also outdoor dining as well.

And any place that has Marilyn up on the wall like this gets my vote....

First thing we did is go to the counter and order....ain't no frigging waiters/waitresses here. If you want it, get your ass up and order it.

The menu is very simple, but that's a really good thing....rather than having 50 things on the menu, they keep things easy so the quality stays high.

I got the Waygu burger (300B) and the wife got the beef burger (80B). Yes, that's right, a cheeseburger for 80B.

    The Waygu -

Cooked medium, it was nice and juicy. Nothing to write home to mom about, but a damn good burger. The bun was store bought, but not too bad.

    The Beef Burger -

What an surprise this burger was! It was great tasting, seasoned well (though a bit too much rosemary IMO) AND ONLY 80B!!!!!!!!!

It was juicy, no taste of filler and completely handcrafted (more about that).

Simply put, for the money, there's not a better burger in Bangkok that I've tasted.

Now that the burgers are out of the way.......

The sides were bar none, some of the best I've had in Bangkok. The onion rings were seasoned perfect and fried such that there was a crispy tasty crust covering the rings 'o joy.

The potato croquettes were also outstanding. Perfectly seasoned mashed potatos, rolled in seasoned bread crumbs and fried so there was the exact contrast between the crunchy outside and the soft inside that defines a croquette.

I had a chat with one of the guys there and they do everything...butcher and grind their own meat, bbq their own chickens and make their own sausages for the chili dogs.

Its a great place and I recommend it highly. The care and quality that goes into their food coupled with the prices isn't something I've found elsewhere in Bangkok.

You are doing a good job of hunting down a decent burger.
Few more to try if you like.

^^ You probably know this, but if you follow the facebook link, then everyone can see your real name from the post you wrote on there earlier.

Most long-termers know who you are, but you may attract some new stalkers.

    --EDIT--

Just read the burger blog (http://www.bangkokburgerblog.com/) and CSSFan has wrote near on the exact thing the blogger did. You even ordered the same 2 burgers he did.

I do occasionally like a good burger but the bun always lets them down, in the main they are dry or mac shit copies, so in Thailand I tend to stick with Thai food, it is after all what they do well.

I dunno, right after my first post in this thread a bunch of requests to the buttsecs site for a specific pic related to something called 'internetsehat' came in but the pic didn't exist so they were getting the error page instead.

A pic with the name they were seeking does exist now though....

What's a Wagyu? Some kind of dog? 300 baht is pretty spensive for a burger, looks pretty good.

Have ya tried the lamb burger?

Am there now. If coming in from Hua Mak Soi 25, stay right when the road splits and it's on your left opposite Soi 9.

Big thumbs-up from me because they sell beer, but only cans of Heineken or Singha.

    Bloody excellent for the price!.

Started off with a standard burger (80b), potato wedges (50b) and a can of Singha (50b).

As you said before, you cannot not but mention the taste of rosemary in the burgers, which is a positive to me.

Had a bit of running about to do and met up with a mate who knows his burgers, so we headed off back down there 2 hours after I first left.

He had what I had previously, and liked it so much, he ordered another one! I went for the B.B.Q burger this time (130b) with 2 cans of beer and 3 ciggies for dessert. The burger was great with a nice sauce and bacon rashers thrown in.

Pass the area regularly, so can see myself popping in more.

    Bogon Score - 8.5/10

Points deducted for the rap music, cheap (but clean) decor and poor selection of beer.

It's the elephant in the room of the burger, but the rest of the seasonings make it work pretty damn good I think.

The BBQ is the one I'm going for tomorrow...how was the sauce?

To be honest, it wasn't as "tangy" as you would expect, so it didn't overwhem the burger, but it didn't really add to the burger at the same time if you know what I mean? I would get one of those little plastic things you put your sauce in and ask if you can have a little taster of the sauce before you order.

Think the lamb is next on the list for me.

Exactly.....it doesn't bounce out but doesn't make itself heard....but a good bbq sauce can add so many subtle highlights........I'll get in on the side for the croquettes and give it a try.
