Ditched it a few weeks back, got fed up of cleaning the thing. Never eat frozen meals or ready meals, I like restaurants andcafes so hardly do take outs, so the thing was pretty much redundant.
Being a person who does nearly all of his own cooking, always been dubious about what microwaves do to your food. When you overdo something it's as hot as hell, and pretty much ruined.
I detest cafes & restaurants that blatantly use them, it shows a lack of freshness and when places overheat stuff I feel cheated. I can't eat it for about 10mins and the steam from it makes me sweat like a pig. I've slowly been boycotting any places I have this experience at.
Worst of all is microwaved scrambled eggs.
I'd say any place that doesn't hide the fact they use a microwave is half arsed. They could spend the cash and invest in a proper speed oven.
Now I heat beans & soup in a pan, I reheat everything slowly, and I'm sure the taste now isn't impaired in any way. Ok a challenge is reheating cold rice, but a few layers of it in airtight foil in the oven is just as good.
In time I'll discover what I can't reheat but I'm never gonna get another microwave, I think they're an insult to the love and time I put into my cooking. A couple of tv chefs also say this. Would like to think that decent chefs wouldn't go near them.
