Aroi bar and Restaurant on the Dark Side, Pattaya

Second time I have been to this place, and frankly speak I love it. I'm not very good at directions here yet, so here is a map

They seem to be fairly recently opened, very nicely done and you can tell that this Belgium guy knows what he is doing; a proper restaurateur as opposed to someone chancing their arm - not one hand written scruffy bit of paper sign in sight!

Nicely appointed, relaxed and comfortable as well. Decent cutlery (although the staff should realise that a steak knife is not needed to all meat) which is often something missed in the "have a go" types of nosheries around here.

We ordered a skewered meat thing, half chicken half pork (245 baht) with a Provençal sauce to share, Salad Niçoise (180 baht I think?), potato crocquettes and spring rolls which were freshly made. We had it all delivered at the same time and shared - stuffed to the gunnels after that lot

Bottle of belgium beer, which at 8.stupid % was too strong for an almost t-totaller like me.

and enough room just to squeeze in a cherry tart (too much arrowroot in the glaze by the way but the patisserie crème was spot on)

With a few waters, a very reasonable 1200 baht for the two of us, and highly recommendable so give it a whirl if hanker for a decent brasserie type of venue.

Oh, and they have a parrot - poor bastard chained up all day. Lose beaucoup marks for that!

    Sorry for the bad pictures

Very nice - seems to be building popularity but is a nice airconned place to eat some good food. They sell real French bread as well, which is awesome.

    French bread.
    What sort of "French" bread?

As there are dozens of varieties of French bread.

They have about half of a dozen varieties. Why not go and have a look yourself? Due parole from Kalasin soon no doubt?

Been there a few times and found it ok, maybe a few more veggie options would be an idea for a tree hugger like me.

I picked that parrot up and was playing with it quite happily until I tried to put it back on it's perch.
By this time Polly was on my shoulder and nibbled my ear everytime I attempted to dump it.
Asking for help from the wife and staff was useless as they were all pissing themselves.
I would post pictures but life's too short.

    All quite moot, actually.

I don't frequent Patters, thanks anyway.

Fair comment - they seem to be a rotisserie place (well originally, until the rotisserie was dumped out the back).
