| Aspiring Guru | Nice places to eat On my way home from work I fortunately have to traverse Victory Monument one of Bangkok's major public transport hubs. I call into Victory Point. There's a number of small restaurants here. It's a decent sort of place to kick back and have a bite and a beer. The atmosphere is pleasant and outdoors and it's 3 baht to use the toilet. No shortage of Thai girlies to look at, if that's your thing. ![]() ![]() ![]()

| The Dog | my mistake poolie, i assumed that was her grand mother anyway today i went to Rim Talay on Jomtien beach, 3 main dishes and a beer came to over 500baht, i could have got the same meal down the road for about 250baht, now i have to admit it was quite nice even though it was nearly empty, and hell its only money i suppose, although it is my foking money and i begrudged paying their over the top foking prices so i wont be going back there again unless someone else is paying, i could have hit pattaya and had 3 roast meals for that, foking bstards all of them, actually tomorrow i shall hit the cheapy roast meal place, 95baht for half a roast chicken with all the trimmings, im not sure if i will take pics of it cos ppl might think im a bit of nutter, have to see if any notices if i get me camera out |

| Aspiring Guru | I'm fond of the piccys. It's just getting over the "Is he a fucking fruitcake, taking pics of a scabby cat?" or "Is that sexpat aiming his camera at me honey?" I'll adopt the typical trainspotting Brit attitude and walk out into the middle of traffic to get a decent snap and they can all think I'm a fuckwit but the shot will be worth it!! ![]() |

| For proper Thai food (not Isaan shite) the best restaurant in Thailand is Baan Kanitha on Sukhumvit Soi 21. Before you berate me in your ignorance, give them a call and book a table on 02 258 4181. Compared with this place, Cabbages & Condoms is like eating the scraps from a bin.

This is going to be a little convoluted as I can't remember the name, but if in Chiangmai, head down Tapae Road until just before soi 4. Across the road is a cafe/restaurant with a white frontage and a few tables outside. The atmosphere is v.relaxed (Chinese classical music) and the food, both farang and Thai, is excellent quality and value.

Maybe the best within walking distance of your home but seriously the best in Thailand is asking for someone to take the piss. Thanks though for the heads up. I teach classes at the uni at the end of your soi a couple of times a week so must drop in one evening and try your 'best'

| For Thai food, yes. According to the "Bangkok Dining and Entertainment Magazine". No doubt you'll be telling me that sitting in the traffic fumes next to Sukhumvit is a far superior dining experience... |
