Farang or Guava Fruit
400 years ago Portuguese traders brought over the Guava Fruit to Thailand, since then the Thais have seen farangs eating farangs, farang is the Thai word for Guava and also white European.
Nowadays guava is a popular crop and fruit in Thailand, often we will also see the Thais gobbling down the old Guava fruit, generally sliced up into chips with a chili powder, sugar and salt dip to give it some bite, personally I would rather a packet of salt and vinegar crisps please.

Personally I prefer the pink guava...the taste is very similar, maybe a bit stronger, and the flesh is softer.
Ps. Did I really write that?

Great in fresh blended juice too.

I think I've read somewhere (probably on this website) that it's pound for pound, the most loaded vitamin C source available..
