Fast Food – Ads vs. Reality

    Amazing.

So, I went to some fast food places (I won’t say “restaurants”, just “places”), and picked up burgers and tacos, so I could compare them with the ads. (I’m always on the hunt for little projects like this. Stoked.) I brought the food home, tossed it into my photography studio, and did ad-style shoots, with pictures of the official ads on my computer next to me, so I could match the lighting and angles.

The reason I don't go to Chesters. A friend I had lunch with a few years back had to call the waiters at Santa Fe to attention and his food was promptly changed. It's actually a disgrace.

I always prefer non chain joints for real hamburgers and fries / fish and chips.
And if it hasn't got beetroot on it it's not a real hamburger.

Beets on a hamburger is sacrilegious. What's next turnips?

Well done Wallai, a nice expose you found. So very true indeed. A week ago I saw a cajun chicken burger from CP in 7/11, there was a big nice piece of breast hanging out the sides on the cover. Now I knew it was not going to be great, but not great and a piece of brown chicken that covered a quarter of the small bun was not what I was expecting. Truth in advertising is a joke. Somewhere in the fucking fine print there is a clause that says... Blah Blah Blah this picture blah blah blah.

Thats why the few old fashioned places that are left making fast food are thriving. You can see your food being prepared, and its just what you ordered. A bit more pricey, but well worth it.

Again thanks for bringing this topic up.
