    Rubber farm in Isaan

Hi. My Thai wife has been offer to buy 40 rai of land from her uncle. Price THB 2 mill. there is planted, 4 years ago, rubber tree on 35 rai. The other 5 is rice. The land has Nor Sor Sam title. Area is in Nort East.
We live in Krabi area where there is a lot of rubber plantations. I don't know if you can harvest as much in the horth as in south. Any idea how much you can get out from 1 rai rubber? Is it a good deal?
    Thanks.

OP, I believe this rubber tree theme has been discussed quite extensively in the past here on TD.

Use the in-house search function, or better yet, browse the farming/agri/horticultural sub-sections......or the Southern and Isaan sub-forums.

I'm sure you'll find helpful info and advice.

    Good luck to you.

Just for the 40 rai at 2mil, without the rubber, I'd say that price is an excellent price.

Hello Harry, If you go to the web site detailed, you will get some good practical information from a guy that has been growing rubber trees for seven years, and about to commence harvest. He seems to have done a good practical business analysis for his farm in Ban Dung NE Isaan.

Hi there Harry, the question of how much you will get per rai is probably nothing. If you are not going to live near the trees the Uncle will keep it all. 2 no one sells good trees, they may never have been cared for and will be poor producers. 3 Not sure what that land title allows, check to see if it can legally be sold.
Doing rubber is not easy, there is money to be made, if you do it right, but few farangs have the ability to live in rural Issan and if you don't you will see no returns. Or worse, as happened to a trusting farang, who was sending money to his wife's brother to take care of their trees. When he came to look at how things were going, only to find all the money had gone into the brothers pocket. Big argument and brother killed farang. Think hard before you spend. Jim
