Making products out of your crops..

    Anyone doing this?

Because I have a relatively small amount of land to farm (10 rai)I've been thinking about making preserves and such with the crops I'm growing.
Jams, marmalades, sun dried tomatoes, banana crisps, mango crackers etc etc...

    Any more ideas or suggestions..

What, the 5000 per cent wine that he was selling? Could be good to get rid of some of the unwanted neighbours.
But, thats not a bad idea as it happens, the whole alcohol thing. Lau Kau tastes like shite..anything would be an improvement.

Don't spose it really matters but are you using the short stubby ones or the dearer longer ones?

You must use the correct type of banana.
Don't quite know how to type this but it sounds like Gluay Hack-Mok.
We grow them ourselves and you have to use them before fully ripened.

We sell to local shops and to the department store in town.

If you are interested then I think I have enough pics to do a thread on it.

I would also like to see more on this. Value added seems to be the way to go especially all organic.
What kind of packaging if any do you use?

Now this is an excellent question. One I have been pondering for years.

The problem with banana chips is that the market is tied up due to OTOP.

A person has to come up with a new idea, which I have not been able to accomplish...

The problem with that is the thai are not generally acceptable to new ideas.
Not impossible to do but just another hurdle to overcome.
I have always wanted to sell roasted kanun nuts.
They look like a brazil nut and taste quite nice.
The thai throw them away and have it fixed in their brains that the nuts are only trash.
