    Quail eggs

I have eaten quail eggs in Thailand many times. You know the kind, small eggs often served with a salad. So my question is this. Where do they come from? Yea, I know where they come from, but where in Thailand do they come from?

So here I go on another adventure to try and figure out the mystery.

    Any clues?

    from the supermarket silly!

my maid cooks them all the time too, often mixed in with a vegetable and meat dish, but my favourite is cooked inside a spagetti meatball!

Quail are pretty easy to raise, so they probably come from all around Thailand. They are popular in Japan, too.

There is one local wild species of partridge according to the Asia Books "Birds of Thailand," which is much like a quail.

In Phrae they are bred in small wire mesh huts.
Don't take up much room so are easy to miss.

I love those eggs in salads or sandwiches

Yes, they are delicate and cheap enough to eat regularly in Thailand. It is still possible to get duck eggs here, and that too is a wonderful thing.

Yes, Praikan Quail Farm in Sangha, Thailand, Surin Province. My Wife and I have a Quail farm here on our Land in Sangkha. We currently have 700 + Layers along with Breeders and Chicks. We are currently expanding so that we can produce 1,000 eggs Daily. There are Other Farms as well in Thailand. Some are in Chang Mai and Korat and Buri Ram. I am an American who is currently residing in Thailand since 2005. I started the farm for my Thai Wife, as I have cancer and don't know how long I have. It has been a very very Good Business to start for her. There are never any problems selling all Eggs Daily. I did a lot of research on the Internet before creating this business and have taken Ideas and design from other farms all over the world to create our own Quail Farm Raising Style. Personally I can assure our customers that our Eggs are always fresh and germ free as well as our Birds are Disease free and very healthy. We sell Birds as we have them available after stocking our own line. You will find that in Thailand health and cleanliness is not a priority to Thai Quail farmers. I mean no disrespect, but the facts are the facts. My Wife and I are attempting to show the Thais the proper way of having a Healthy and Happy Farm, and a lot of them are taking notice out here in our part of Thailand.

Always good to hear from a successful farang. Details pointing others in the right direction are always welcome.
