In our neighbourhood there are a lot of feral chickens which look very much like the original red jungle fowl of Thailand

They are excellent flyers although they like to spend most of their time on the ground foraging for food

The locals call them "gai jare" which I think means they are cross breeds. However I can't tell the difference between them and the wild ones.
The chickens have been laying eggs everywhere and abandoned one which we brought up. She's vey tame, https://teakdoor.com/Gallery/displayi...um=3268&pos=14
Here is a feral hen with her brood of chicks
I'm guessing the "gai jare" might be (ไก่แจ้) which means they're banties or bantam chickens.
The "gai baa" (ไก่ป่า) are the real jungle fowl here. Real 100% jungle fowl are thin on the ground and shy as shit too. That's because thais will kill and eat almost anything which flies, walks, creeps or slithers around the forests here.
These people also have a TON of "gai chon" (ไกเชน) fighting chickens..
The usual chickens which roam the villages in Nakhon Nowhere are just crosses of any or none of the above.
Is it me or is anyone else having problems seeing the pics?
FWIW: I did NOT post the thai wording to impress you people with my thai ability (so don't start your carping).
It was so the O/P could copy and paste the thai wording into Google and look at the images.
They're taking over village. Rats with feathers shitting everywhere. My wife won't allow me to buy a shot gun and blow them away.
