    Rather sad...

    All rather sad:

MIL is selling Betel nut at 70baht a kilo.

Government/army is chopping down 100s of rai of rubber trees of long time farmers on land that they say is government land.

Coffee producers cut down their trees when rubber price was high and planted rubber.

Government is telling some rice farmers they can only plant one crop per year.

Probably a lot of other sad tales.....

Maybe paranoia and alarmist but theoretically under marshal law the governance can demolish a house, grab the land, imprison/murder anyone without consequence or accountability...quite scary.

Returning happiness to which people ???

Hand of bananas is 5 baht here, and my coconuts aren't for sale at any price!

Yes, quite visible these Military people these days...no smiles that I can detect.

Nobodies planting rice nearby, but further afield many are...they of course have a unending water supply.

Next crop to be harvested is soy beans and corn.

No rain since Jan 8, 2015...none expected either.

I may have some land that could fall under this category, you take a chance on getting something on the cheap or free.
In the end it's not the poor 10 rai farmer, but people with money and power who plant 100s of rai, then cry when caught out.

I say take back the crown farming land, give it back to the landless, who it was meant for in the first place.
Surest way to start local discontent in rural areas, is to have lots of landless farmers with nothing to lose.

Go army go, reclaim the parks, take back the Kings farming land, let the poor have something to give them some pride as farmers.

Until Sor Por Gor land becomes Chanote title then it will always belong to the government to do as it will. Not a new thing.

The land was given free before and what did the poor do? Sold it when they basically had no right to do so. Give the poor free land again and they'll do the same again, sell it. And so life in Thailand goes on.

Not now they won't, even out here no witnessed sales done, land office or nothing.
Old days of buying and selling crown land have gone, that bit of paper from a village head or sub governor have no status.
Buyer be ware, best bet is no title at all, possession land, but you still take your chances, land may be controlled by other government agencies.
Charnotes will come, then you can sell, but even then no ownership change for 10 years.

It could be worse. Laos for example. Small population with a government controlled by select families, no surprises there though, all of Asia is like that. Communists in training to become capitalists. The local yocals seem to accept it, no choice I guess?

There is only one entity that has the say so and the last word regarding all of these affairs.....and it ain't for "the people", that's for sure.

From what the Puu Yai Ban's son who speaks decent English informs me ,many of the so called "people " in my area are their own worst enemies , and of course as he accurately puts it are falling over themselves to blame any one and every one for their own demise ,for instance, a young guy of 23 who lives nearby inherited a nice parcel of land right at the side of the main road and promptly sold it for 300,000 baht last Oct today he ain;t got a Satang left after him and his so called "Friends" drank and gambled the lot away in very quick time ,I heard yesterday that his Sister has just thrown the waster out ,the heartless bitch

Dunno, but maybe my little village is a one off ,but from what I am told by the Puu Yai Bans Son there is hardly any adult in my village that is not financially embarrassed culminating in quite a few plots of land up for sale with few takers ,many of the younger generation are leaving for either Bangers or Korat to find work , it would appear that the days of the horny handed sons of the soil are numbered as far as the young Thai's are concerned

Yeah, as stated in my post #15 , Jan my wife said the land was worth at least 400,000, but the "big hitter" could not wait to get his hands on the dough ,so him and his mates could blow it ,I forgot to add the Honda CBR he bought was rapped up and was a write off before the New Year .

If you buy land Thai/foreign without checking it out legally first regardless of your wealth or lack off, and it comes back to bight you, tough luck!

Just the same as buying a car with finance outstanding. I stupidly did this in the UK and was chased down for outstanding monies from the previous owner. I thought fook it and sold it on to someone else to worry about!

Yeah, I suppose with the benefit of hindsight we are all that little bit wiser (or should be) ,and as there are so many horror stories circulating, it pays to test the depth before diving in head first !

Exactly. Legally Sor Por Gor titled land cannot be sold. The name on the paper can only be changed upon the death of the original named person. Following their death the lands name can only be transferred to another family member. Thais have been flouting this law for years and I've seen a few cases where people/farang have lost their land due to their smugness. Thais in the village seem to think that they only have to abide by 'village law', the way it's always been. Thai law is for people in the big cities.

    Just my view on it.

As said BIL is the number 2 public servant in the district Orbitor office, they and all the village heads etc were told in no uncertain terms, get caught witnessing crown land transfers you will go to prison, land office only now, When the charnotes were issued along the 2248 [my factory] disputed title, no charnote issued.
From what I heard 10 year rule was applied, but anything under the 10 years, claimants lost the land and had to apply to the the land office appeals court if they wanted to claim.

The whole country is to be put on a western type land register, World bank thing, if your paper isn't legal balls in your court to prove otherwise.

As said I may have some dodgy land, possession type, but may come under a different government department, will see in years to come, charnote people are a long way off.

^This will be interesting if and when they try to enforce their judiciousness. 78 million idiots and counting...People have been buying and selling this type of land for centuries and now all of a sudden they are going to correct this ship? Better chance of stopping burning seasons in all the Asian countries...fat chance!
