I like to sit here in the shade...
I think that the termites might have something to do with this.

You might like to investigate that tree a little before it does some damage to your house.
Hehe... a familiar sight. Growing 4 of these beauties here in my garden and once in a while this happens, destroying everything underneath.
I don't think it's thermites that do the damage. Delonix regia (Royal Poinciana tree, Flamboyant tree, Flame tree, หางนกยูง) is a (too) fast growing tree with soft, lightweight and brittle branches.
Often multi-stemmed in narrow V-shapes, rainwater and dirt from fallen leaves and leaf stalks collect in the 'armpits' and keep that area too moist. It starts to rot and a sudden wind gust combined with heavy rain and the weight of the rest of the branches, the heavy seedpods and millions of fern-like leaves do the trick. It's just too weak.
These trees also tend to 'eat' things. Ropes, metal lines from hanging baskets and, as you will see below, even a big boulder the size of a pack of sugar slowly disappears into the tree, never to be seen again...
Time to call the boys with the chainsaw, and check for any other 'dangerous' branches while they're present. The leftover small branches and leaves make good compost, not much of a wood for bonfires, gone too quick. I dry some bigger pieces and use it for woodcarving.
And early next year all will be forgotten, and you'll be rewarded by another stunning display of red flowers. Good luck cleaning the mess!
Thanks for the info, Gypsy.
Just had a mate round with his (drill with a little saw attached.)
