^ I must say I like your style Don ,why? cos you write the "uncomfortable" truth ,maybe some may say your views are some what "alarmist" and even pessimistic ,but as the old adage goes "fools rush in where angels fear to tread " and once one has plunged in headfirst with wads full of money ,the so called heaven can soon turn into a living hell.

Well put Donald36. Many farang out here believe they own land, or the wife does. When in fact they haven't a clue as to who's name is on the paper.
I used to be friend with a Norwegian who girlfriend used to show him land they'd bought, but in fact didn't. She used the money for gambling and he was none the wiser. The worst ones at it are the ones who have husbands /boyfriends who work away. Subsequently when they return for their R&R the wife will not let them make contact with other farang that live here full time.

People who can't speak Thai and can't read Thai and trust (or marry) people they hardly know in a foreign country and consider buying land they can never own should not be surprised if it all goes tits up. Still, if you've got a million or two (or 3 or 4) to throw away, all's good.

Beautiful plot of land in Phimai for sale, 39 rai and 65 sq wah ( 62.660 square meters or 6.266 hectares)
Super price: 120.000 bath per rai (total: 4.680.000 thai bath)
The land has a land road all around the plot.
There is plenty of water available because the land adjoins an irrigation channel!
This is very useful because this allows the farmer two or up to three harvests per year.
The land also touches a public road.
Distance from the land to the Phimai-Hindat road is 800 meters.
Distance from the land to the closest house (neighbor) is 400 meters.
Distance from the land to Phimai center is about 5000 meters.
There has never in the history been flooding in this region of Phimai.
The land can be used for farming land as well as house building plot.
Details about the land (video, pictures, plans, copy chanot,…) can be found on:
    www. Thaihometown.com/land/108201

Thank you for your kind remarks piwanoi and pragmatic ,I think we are all reluctant to "rain on someone else's parade ",and therefor try to make encouraging remarks with just mild cautions which tend to be ignored
I realise that I will continue to make mistakes ,but hopefully not too many, but I am also very aware of what little knowledge and how foolishly optimistic others are when they decide to make the dream of living and earning here no matter what warnings are raised .
My very wise daughter compared marrying a Thai lady with a middle-aged Uk woman with the comment "Dad you'll come to a lot less harm messing about in Thailand than here in the Uk ",my years here probably confirm that observation.

Go to Laos section. Then Laos questions. Then the thread titled cost of farm land near the Mekong river. It may be of value as Mr Collister gets into types of title, costs and so on. I learned how to post pics near the end of the discussion. Not something to go into blind. Hope it helps you in some way. Good luck.
