    compost or potting soil

Just came back from visiting one of my SILs.
She is making a reasonable living growing common button type mushrooms.
Noticed several windrows of expired mushroom growing media.
Was thinking of giving her a few bucks and bagging it.

Just wondering what it lacks for use as compost or potting soil?
Think I read someplace that it is an ideal media for growing stuff?

Wouldn't hurt to dig it in to anywhere you want to grow some veg mate .

I use it as a soil improver in the UK , its very cheap to buy here and helps to break down all this poxy clay where I live ,, although you might well still get some mushrooms sprout from the spores left in the soil
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

Mushroom compost (especially if it is free!!) is a good soil conditioner but may contain excess salt and could deter germination of seeds.

What can be done with a heavy mushroom-based compound is to blend with another less acidic mulch...allow to blend for a couple months.

    Thanks guys....
-Salt?...Which one....is there a solution. maybe add commercial fertiliser of specified content

-Can you suggest a less acidic mulch....again maybe add a commercial fertiliser of specified content

Ok... not quite so lazy today ....found some good info:

Bit off topic but I use banana plant ,both wild and edible, leafs, stems and even the excess bananas for fertiliser and mulch..lots of good stuff in in 'em..55
