    Govt sponsored self sufficiency

The govt is sponsoring the locals with free chickens(layers).

My wife and the other villagers recieved 6 chickens each a couple of months ago, Wife has just told me we are getting four more today, not sure about the rest of the village, is this happening were you are and whats the plan behind it, i can not see the point, are the locals just going to eats eggs all day.

Are the govt going to be buying the eggs and sell on or am i just going to have to throw the things away.?

Eggs are good and cheap the only downside when god designed the container, I wish he made them out of plastic, so the could stand short ride in the back of a pick up.

yep thought so had them for ten minutes and sold them for 100 baht each.

This self sufficiency has caused murder around here, the local govt officials were giving away awards etc for the best kept villages, and awards for the locals who were keeping livestock and growing own food.

In our village the two top awards went to the PYB and the ex PYB, seems there sufficiency progammes were not the best.

These give a ways happen almost yearly, main village from us got a free cow per household. First calf goes to the Government, for the next village, fingerlings most years, not had chickens, but the village is alive with them already.

Just one of the many schemes to try and get the villagers to be a bit more industrious. Jim
